Sometimes I hear people say things like "how can I be cheating" if I haven't "promised" any fidelity? That question has it merit but... When people enter into a verbal contract then each should be able to depend on the promises made. Especially when feelings of the heart, children, other family members and property are involved! But when one person within that verbal contract neglects to hold their end of the promise then the statement "It's not fair!" comes up. So when you hear the word fair it's to explain that all involved have the SAME advantages AND disadvantages AND each are given ample knowledge of how their mate will treat them. All involved would agree to the fairness supplied them. But when someone involved is treated in such a way that left them out of the changes of the agreement then it is immediately labled...UNFAIR. Unfair advantages make people feel as though they have been cheated-not veiwed as a worthy human or the same as another.
When someone is in a relationship with someone else shoudn't they be given the choice to agree or disagree to be involved with that extra person that their mate will be with? What if they get infected with STDs or worse? What if they work with their mate's lover and the lover knows their secrets that were shared under strict confidence and trust. When someone enters the contract of marriage the word -forsaken is used. My question to you is what if you had the choice of your father or mother cheating and you find out about it when someone says that they are your brother and you were to inherit a million dollars but your million dollar inheritance has been cut in half because you must share it with him? Would you feel it fair? Would you feel cheated? Would you feel forsaken? Would you have like to have known about this situation at least? I would suggest to you the word-HONESTY can you define it? How about -CHARACTER and HONOR?

Because "cheating", by definition, is the use of deception or dishonesty to acquire something you're not ordinarily entitled to by honest means. "Cheating" in a relationship means you are "being deceptive or dishonest with one or more persons in order to enjoy pleasures not afforded by traditional relationships."

It's not called "cheating" unless it's being kept secret from one or more persons.

It's giving the false perception to someone that they are engaged in a monogamous relationship by a person that is engaging in polygamous behavior.

Cheating by definition is personal gain through deception, and deception is always harmful to someone. Isn't that what an affair is? Gaining personal satisfaction at the expense of someone else... your significant other?

Generally, people expect that they're in an exclusive relationship. Meaning, you're not allowed to have anyone else. So, if you do have someone else, you're cheating because you're not supposed to be doing that. You're getting more than you're supposed to.
So when someone says "You're cheating!" it's because you're not allowed to get some from other people, but you are anyway.

Cheating a very broad concept,
it could be physical, it could be kissing, sex....
it could be emotional, confiding things to some other person else who is not your significant other, (this excludes counselors, parents, siblings, friends)
It could be cyber-cheating, communicating whether accidental or not with someone else online.

Because the un-written, unofficial, unspoken "rules" say you cannot do a whole list of things. If you break the rules, you are cheating at the relationship game.

if you are committed to one, then you are lessening your relationship. if you told her upfront that you are just dating and be honest about the relationship, then it is not cheating. girls want to know where they stand. and if they like you, if they have a chance. you do not have to tell them what you are doing all the time.
