cats are VERY oriented to smell, so focus on how the corner smells -- did you used to have a plant there or something like that? Did you move furniture -- cats really aren't big fans of change.

In the end, cats are simply mysterious -- my cat does CRAZY things for no reason and sees things that, as far as I can tell, aren't there... Gotta love 'em! :)

Is he eating and drinking what you give him? Does he seem sick?

I really dont want to suggest this, but... my parents cat, when she was very sick and it was 'time' went into the corner of their bathroom and if moved, she would always go back. The vet said it was a sign, they will sometimes go (and face the corner) and stay there.. although she was quiet when she was there..

I would take him to the vet just incase. You just never know...
I hope he's okay.

There are good answers so far, but another thing that may be going on is that there may be something wrong with that outlet. Animals have a more heightened sense of awareness of their surroundings than we do. If he persists with the behavior, you may want to have an electrician check that outlet. Better safe than sorry.

Any chance of a mouse in the wall?
A cat has better hearing than you do. If he hears a mouse or other creature in the wall (scratching, nibbling etc) he may be meowing at that.

Maybe he's lonesome..does he have any friends to play with (furry ones that is). If you're concerned about his health you can always call your vet.
