My cat is 12 years old, she has been the only pet in the family until I got a roommate who also has a cat. It's been a year and she still won't tolerate the other cat being anywhere near her.

since u raised her with out socializing her with other animals yes it is normal

Yes This Is Normal Unless The Cat Has Growed Up With Other Cats/Animals He/She Will Hate Other Animals

Yes, unfortunately for older cats this is the case. If the new cat is not a kitten of opposite gender than it will not like the other cat.

Yes the cat is too old to attempt it....some have personality's that it would work for but yours does not. Just keep them away so yours does not get too stressed out, or hurt the other one. It's used to having it's own space. Good Luck

How would you feel if you were an only child, spoiled for 12 years and then your mommy got a roomate that had a child? Jealous I am sure!

They should eventually work it out. She's just being a cranky old lady.
