You cant and if you tried to you would only open up a can of worms for yourself - as items bought from the states are subject to customs declaration - but I bet you went through the 'nothing to declare' zone. It aint worth it honey.

The US doesn't have VAT, but there may be some paperwork to get state taxes you paid on items back - I don't think so though. Our state taxes are nowhere near as high as your VAT (thank God), it's usually about 8 cents to every dollar spent. Look on the bright side, the dollar is really weak these days, so you got a bargain anyhow. It's awful for us as prices in the UK are doubled for the American tourist.

I hope you hit New York for the shopping :)

maximum foodstuff in uk would not have VAT on it; legally that's 0-rated. foodstuff in eating places and warm take-away foodstuff mutually with chocolate, candies and delicate and alcoholic beverages do - however - have VAT. in case you pay for those while your workers are faraway from base I see no reason which you have the skill to no longer declare decrease back the VAT. however, till your workers are very fortunate and dine in costly eating places, could it somewhat be somewhat worth it to maintain the information. the worker could could provide you a VAT bill for each merchandise claimed. verify with gross sales and Customs besides; it replaced into some on an identical time as considering I labored there!

Speak to the US embassy. Not every item you purchased will be eligible for sales tax rebate and I also think it depends on the state you purchased the goods.
