what if one day you get the proof you've been waiting for that God exists. ??? haven't atheists denied giving God a chance to prove Himself to them? this makes no sense to me?

an atheist is an atheist. you have no doubt that there is no God. if you want to classify yourself as what your trying to do here then you would be more like an agnostic Leaning toward atheism.

Yes, this is true...ALL atheists are really agnostic, they don't know! You would have to be all-knowing to come to the conclusion that God doesn't exist. There are no atheists, never has been, never will be. They've been spoon fed what they know as fact by other men!! It is ironic that most claim they are open-minded and free-thinkers, but they are the ones being led around by the nape of their neck like mindless fools and by other men no less! Their thoughts on the world come from man. It is other men that really do the thinking for them and they swallow it as fact, hook, line, and sinker! It is hilarious and sad at the same time, especially when most atheists claim Christians are the people that are the robots.

I'll prove it to you and all those other pius thiests out there here and now. Using pure logic, can a square circle exist? No, of course not, it's an oxymoron. The concept of god is also an oxymoron. It is claimed that god is perfect, whish is an absolute term, a superlative, there a no degrees of perfection you either are or you're not. It is claimed that god has always existed, no beginning , no end. What was he doing for an eternity prior to creation ? Sitting on his throne up in heaven in a state of perfect bliss. So why the urge to change anything? You only change something when you are not happy with the present situation or there is something lacking in your life. If there was something lacking in god's existence then he cannot have been perfect, and a god that is not perfect is not a god, therefore there is no god !

In the technical sense, Yes Im an Agnostic because I dont have any 100% certainty about the existence of any gods

But I'll still call myself an atheist because I dont believe in them.

I've been questioning over and over and seeking for decades, ever since I was a little kid and pondered God and the ultimate mystery of existence. I think what happens is that the god that is presented as real is something that fits our egos -- something that we project outward. And that this hides the real God. And believers and atheists both focus on this small, made-up deity -- the believers taking it as reality (heaven, hell, punishment, reward, etc.) and the atheists rightfully rejecting it. Now, if we ask people to consider that there is God and that this God has NOTHING to do with the images in the religious texts AND that this God can be directly experienced (enlightenment), many resist. So the question becomes: why? Who do people resist giving up their definitions of God?

Actually, no, you don't have to be 100% without a doubt that he does not exist. You can simply choose not to think about it at all or have a lack of belief despite the fact that you don't know for sure. I mean, I don't know 100% for sure that unicorns don't exist. I guess they could, but I really, really, really don't believe they do. I'll admit I could be wrong, but that's not the same as being agnostic and feeling that you don't know whether there is a god or not. I could be wrong, but I still don't believe in unicorns. YOU don't believe in Osiris, but I'm sure you have no proof whatsoever that he doesn't exist. How are you so sure?

And God had my entire childhood in the church to "prove" himself. He never delivered.

ADDITION:
I think you are a little confused as to the definition of atheism. It is simply a lack of belief in god(s), not necessarily a belief that there is no god(s). If anything, some agnostics could also be atheists. They may admit it is possible, but still currently lack belief in god.

Because it's fairly easy to prove that free will is only an illusion and without free will, the deific hypothesis is entirely irrelevant.

I can prove 100% that every religion on the planet is in error (or: that knowledge cannot be attained -- but that's a silly conclusion).

-----

So you are agnostic too, since it's impossible to be 100% certain of his existence?

And yes, I am 100% certain that there is no deity, yours or anyone elses.

---

It further occurs to me that you are failing to make the distinction between strong atheism and weak atheism. Strong atheism makes the assertion, "There is no deity of any kind." Weak atheism says simply, "I hold no belief in a deity." Strong is an active denial, weak is simply a lack of belief.

----

Ah, so we should trust you above a dictionary, huh? You are the final word on defining things? Sorry, Merriam-Webster has more credibility than you in that department.

----

Oh, this is a conversation now, hm? Funny, it looks more like a poorly veiled attempt at thumbing your nose at atheists and thinking you're better than them by means of your weak and inadequate strawman arguement against atheism.

I am a Christian, but most Atheist that are truly Atheist, will not rule out the possibility of a God existing. They will however require great evidence that would provide their individual style of rationale with sufficient understanding. The other Atheist are generally ex-christians who have some sort of emotional detachment from God and therefore are driven to hate as you see many times on this site. I have interacted with many wonderful people who are Atheist. I hope you find the answer your looking for, but God has planted a seed in everyone of our hearts, even the Atheist.

the rationalization many atheist's do no longer declare with a hundred% fact the non-existence of god is that usually we are data oriented, there are various stuff we can not a hundred% disprove, Thor, Zeus, Cthulu and the invisible Vesuvian Unicorn as an occasion. we can not a hundred% instruct that those issues do no longer exist, yet seeing as there is no longer a single shred of information for them being actual that's logical to anticipate that they do no longer exist except data provides itself to the choice. Seeing as God/s have the comparable quantity of information helping their existence simply by fact the invisible unicorn, why might we've faith in them and not the unicorn?

Well, first you're assuming they haven't given it a chance. Second, you are mainly placing yourself in that position, which is why you don't understand how anyone can be an Atheist to begin with. But, a way to look at this is - Do you believe in Pagan Gods? Why not? Did you give them a chance to prove themselves to you? Do you see now?

How can you be 100% sure that God does exist? What if one day you find proof that God does not exist and realize you've been wasting your entire life believing in a fairy tale? The question works both ways.
