I also have been wearing braces for the last three years which I think could be exacerbating the problem. I also like to wear lipgloss but I've thrown out a lot of them, just in case they're affecting my lips. Could someone please tell me how to alleviate my problem?!!

i am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse and you could have a bladder or kidney problem, If your body hasn't got the right amount of fluid in it your lips get very dry and sore.Stop the lip gloss use Vaseline instead or diluted tea tree oil or calendula cream and drink at least 2 litres of water a day. if this helps then your problem is solved, if not, see a Doctor. Our bodies have a habit of telling us that something is wrong either by pain or spots and boils, in your case, your lips. If your urine is dark or very pale drinking plenty of fluids (not fizzy drinks) will help

First off, thumbs up for spelling and vocabulary.

A lot of what you're experiencing is the change in seasons. As we get into winter, the cold, dry air causes dry skin, chapped lips, and makes fever blisters worse. Your best bet is to keep a bottle of hypoallergenic moisterizer on you for your skin, and a lip balm for your lips. I know they make moisturizing lipstick, but the balm is better until you get the problem under control.

Are the blisters painful? If so they may be cold sores which are painful blisters caused by a viral infection in the nerve endings of your lips. Zovirax is good for healing these. If they are not painful i would try blistese cream which is good for chapped lips but i would avoid lip gloss as it probaby wont do a lot to help.

Wearing Chap stick often actually stops your lips from producing it's own moisture. This often results in a vicious cycle....Try using blistex medicated in the squeeze tube (white pkg) this will medicate and soothe your lips as well as add moisture. If used regularly this can also take care of those white bumps or "fever blisters" you spoke of. Hope this helps!

ever exfoliated your lips????? If not try it ok
Smear your lips in petroleum jelly/vaseline leave it to sink in for at least 5 minutes then wipe off with some damp tissue or cotton wool. take a SOFT clean toothbrush or facial brush and very very gently rub your lips over this will help remove any dead flaky bits of skin , when you have done that smear them in your chapstick then ok Good Luck x

I read somweher this is asign of dehydration, so lots of water. Also chapsticks used regularly can cause this. Carmex is supposed to be better. or try vaseline. Also i brush my lips with toothbrush when i brush my teeth as this gets rid of the top layer of dead skin.
Don't quote me on this but I've heard put honey on lips!

Try not using any lip balm / chapstick for a week or so and see if that helps. The skin on your lips is not producing its own moisture because it doesn't need to (because of the balm). It needs to get used to producing its own moisture again.

Make sure you're drinking a lot of water, and if the heater is up too much in your home, it may be removing the moisture from the air, which could be affecting your skin. But, if it's that bad, you should see a doctor or dermatologist.

Ok, an old one this that my Grandmother use to do for me, she used to put the cream of the milk on my lips. This has made them smoother throughout time and, touch wood, I've never suffered dry lips since.

Try to avoid licking your lips in cold weather. The moisture becomes dissolved which cause them to be dry. I would consider using Blistex or Vaseline on your lips.
