And do they have to be really young? My kittens are almost half-grown but I would love to teach them to use the toilet like I do!

Their are inserts that go into your toilet, they hold litter. You start them on these then remove them once they get used to it.

HI there...toilet training a cat is possible and I've trained both my house cats as well as many clients kitties to use the human toilet. However, it takes a lot of time and patience, therefore someone must be there nearly 24/7 in the beginning and when the litter box is removed during the training process. On average cats who are toilet trained take anywhere between 3 months to 1.5 years depending on age, individual temperament and the techniques used. No one technique works for all cats so people have to experiment to see works best. The City Kitty toilet training kit and many others that are similar is fine for very young kittens because the tray is very flimsy and heavier cats tend to find it discomforting so the Litter Kwitter http://www.litterkwitter.com/en/index.php system may be more helpful in this case or a crafty home kit. Here's a fun video of a cat using the Litter Kwitter system: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2647927142627159521&q=toilet+trained+cat

Some cats who are toilet trained will have accidents around the home because during the training process you have to remove the litter box entirely, which is why it's important to be home full time during this stage of training as well.

i have 5 toilet trained cats so it does work!( no matter what age) =) but u have to doit grdually and u have to have patience. first put the litter box in front of the toilet for a few days then put it on like a pile of books or something to get it higher up, then keep making it higher every few days, until the bottom of the litter box is level with the toilet seat! then after a few days there every time ur cat goes to step on the toilet seat (u can instruct her/ him todo so) u have to praise them. after this take the litter box away and throw it out or hide it ! they should be used to it by now and they should use it but all cats r different some may need more time if it doesnt work the first time try it again! hope this helps! good luck potty training! =)

There is a kit that you can buy. You put it over the toilet bowl and put cat litter in it. You show it to the cat and cats being the smart animals that they are , get on the commode and "go". Then after a while and they are used to that you take the tray with the cat litter away, and they use the potty and you can just flush. Wish I would have done this with my cats!!!

set his litterbox on the opened toilet lid, train him to use his litterbox there, then just remove the litterbox and he should go potty into the toilet. it may take some practise on the cat's part but that's how i would do it.

I have two books from the library on that, right now. However, since I have not read them yet, I do not know. I think that you should do what I did - go to the library.

They have excellent resources.

Good Luck!

Put it in it's litter box after meals + put the litter box in a private place. Example: bathroom.
