Troops have been over there since 9/11 and I don't understand what's the point. It went from finding Bin because he was accused of the attacks, to Sadaam, then back to Bin, then weapons of mass destruction, and all the while, gas prices have continued to rise. It's like what are we over there for now? It's not about oil. It's about MONEY, POWER & RESPECT. Bin is not over there because I don't think it takes 6 years to find someone with all the bombings and troops we've sent over there. Bring the soldiers home now to their families!! Haven't they suffered enough?

P.S. Check out that movie Farenheit 9/11 if you haven't seen it already.

My honest opinion is we are in a mess.

We can't leave the country like it is now. It would not be right at all for the people. We need to help them.

I would like to add... I dont think the Americans were ever fully informed on why we went there in the first place. I think there are things we do not know - and I trust our military leaders and officials are doing whats best for our country.

I think we need more troops over there to help make the country a little more stable. If we left the country like it is - that would be very bad in so many different ways.

I also must say I think all war is bad. I can't understand why everyone involved cant have a cease fire and talk about things. I realize its hard to trust each other - but, why not sit like grown ups and talk about the situation.

I know this will be a minority opinion on this board, but you have to stand up to the bullies of the world. Maybe Saddam Hussein wasn't as powerful as Hitler, but he could have become that way. World War II might not have been as destructive had the US dived into it 2-3 years earlier.

At some point you have to take a stand against oppression. I don't think anybody (except for completely delusional pacifists) would argue with that. I think what we tend to disagree on is when exactly that line is crossed.

Fine, but the focus needs to change to support, equip and train the Iraqi police and Army. The Iraqi police and Army still go out in T-shirts and pistols to battle Al Qaida who is armed with flak vests and assault rifles and rocket launchers.

Training is good, but the equipment is not there, which is why they are still dependent on American forces. Applicants must be screened for links to terrorism.
