is it better to tell someone you like them yourself or can you get someone else to tell them

It is a very bad idea to tell anyone. The "anyone" can potentially ruin any chance you have of dating them. Too often the one telling ends up with the one you want. No way..find a way to say it or make some hints.

Tell him yourself. You run into a multiple of risks if you get someone else to do something you could have done. One of these risks are he might fall for the one who does tell him and they have already conversated so it is easier to talk to someone who is more open

It is better to get to know the person showing in suttle ways that you like them then tell them straight up how you feel

As much as that is tempting at times perhaps for fear of rejection, tell them yourself. You will look weak and it's not attractive.
