It's a (slightly yukky-sounding) dish, here's the recipe:
Ingredients
Serves: 6
24 Prunes, soaked in boiling water for at least 30 minutes
4 tbsp Mango chutney
12 Streaky bacon rashers, rinded
12 small slices Toast
Butter
1 Bunch Watercress
Method
Pre-heat oven to 200 °C / 400 °F / Gas 6.
De-stone the prunes. Stuff each prune with 1/2 tsp mango chutney. Stretch the bacon so that it doesn't shrink when it's cooked. Use the back of a knife. Cut each rasher in half.
Wrap a piece of bacon round each prune. Place on a baking sheet. Keep them packed up tight so that they don't unravel. Bake for about 8 minutes. Butter the toast. Arrange 2 devils on each piece and garnish the dish with the watercress.

a simple devils on horseback is prunes wrapped in any bacon of your choice. The flip side to this is angels on horseback which is the same thing, but using oysters rather than prunes

Ingredients needed:
24 pitted prunes
1/4 cup fruit chutney, such as mango, apricot, or peach
12 slices bacon
Cayenne
Bring a small pot of water to a boil. Place the prunes in a medium bowl and cover with the boiling water. Let sit until soft, about 10 minutes. Drain well and pat dry.
With a small knife, cut a small slit along each prune and stuff with chutney.
Place the bacon flat on a work surface and scrape with the back of a knife to prevent from shrinking while cooking. Sprinkle a pinch of cayenne on each bacon slice. Place 1 stuffed prune on each bacon piece and roll up to enclose. Secure with a toothpick and place on a foil-lined baking sheet. Place on the top rack of the oven and broil, until the bacon is crisp, turning once to cook both sides evenly.
Remove from the oven and serve immediately.
Makes 2 dozen runes wrapped in bacon.
