My dog has scratched up the molding around the door. How can I prevent this? Once it is repaired, is there something I can put on it to keep her from scratching it up again?

The only way to prevent your dog from scratching the moulding is to teach her not to do it. Why is she scratching the door? What door is she scratching, or is it all doors in your house? Is she bored? Does she do it to let you know she needs to go out? Is there an underlying emotional/mental reason for the scratching (like separation anxiety or fear of thunderstorms)?

I'd wait to repair it until you've finished training her not to scratch it. Then you won't have to worry about putting something on it.

You may not want to replace it until you've trained her not to scratch at the door and molding. If she's scratching to ask to be let out, try hanging a bell next to the door and training her to ring the bell instead.

If all else fails, check the hardware store for durable plastic molding. It looks just as good, and holds up to dogs and kids.

Boundry Indoor/Outdoor Cat & Dog Repelant. You have to spray it on every day but it worked great for my dogs!
