It is pollution. Seriously, it really is. Well, it is called the reflection of impurities that create a blue color spectrum to our eyes.

Seriously, research it and you will know I have told you the scientific explanation as to "Why is the sky blue?"

Well, first you have to understand how we see colors and how things look certain colors. Things aren't really colors, we just see them as such when light hits them. White light (which is also the light we see from the sun) is a combination of all of the colors of the rainbow; red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Here's an example of how we see an apple as being red.

There is an apple. It really isn't physically red. The chemicals in the apple's outer skin just happen to be chemicals that reflect the wavelength which we see as red more strongly than the other wavelenths of other colors. Therefore, though all of the light spectrum is reflected, we see red because it is the strongest one 'bouncing' off the apple's surface.

The same concept can be applied to the sky. The air molecules in the sky reflect the blue wavelength the strongest, therefore, on a clear day, we see the sky as blue. When the sun sets, we see oranges and reds because the blue light is scattered away from people's line of sight.

Hope this helped a little.

The sky isn't properly blue. It's the mixture of gases that makes us see blue. Originally, it should reflect the firmament's color, but the layers surrounding the planet have a mixture of vaporous elements that make us see the sky blue.

Because of miniature dust particles trapped in the atmosphere that reflect the blue wavelength of the visible light spectrum.

Because that is the part of the spectrum that reflects off the curved part of the atmosphere. Its the same reason it looks red in the morning and evening.

All colors have wavelengths that are diffused by nitrogen and oxygen. Blue has the shortest wavelength of all the colors so it is diffused up to ten times more.
