Everyone I know feels some signs of burnout after the holidays.

It's no crime to need time off. You work in construction, what if you never re-charged your tools? Would you be mad that they weren't working? No, you'd recognize that there are things you need to do to keep them working.

Guilt is useless---you were sick today. You don't need a fever or a doctor to recognize too much already!

My advice, take a few days and languish. Flip channels, go fishing, order in, read a book....whatever it is that speaks to you--DO IT! Break the cycle and avoid it in the future by scheduling time off.

You may be surprised to find the project moves faster not slower when you take time off.

Also, as you are mentally recharging, eat well, drink your water, take your vitamins and get sleep and fresh air. You're many different pieces and everything needs it's own attention, body, mind and spirit.

Feel better and lose that guilt! You've earned that time!

Happy New Year!

I love it when someone answers their own question while asking it! Signs include skipping work, loss of interest, feeling the need to recharge, feeling worn down, and guilt. Now the best thing to do? Go see your doctor! There may well be a medical reason that you are feeling this way. The best way to identify the problem is to get some professional help. Good luck!

why would you feel guilty? We weren't made to work without ever taking a break! Yes, that would burn you out in a heartbeat. Don't be so hard on yourself....that is a normal response to working yourself to death with no fun. It will also tear down your immunity and make you sick much easier. Be good to yourself for goodness' sake! :)
