Alcoholics celebrate any occasion that allows them to get drunk in a social situation. It takes less guilt to justify it. The high holy days for drunks are St Patrick's Day and New Years Eve. There are lesser days on their calender but they usually require at least an apology. The rest of the time they get drunk because they are degenerates.

It's a way of winding down for a bit, forgetting about the stresses of the week. Why not aslong as you don't overdo it. As for doing it New Years Eve, think its good to come together and celebrate the start of the New Year and what lies ahead, personally can't think of a better way

lol, i plan on drinking yes, its fun. i dont get smashed to the point wher ei throw up and feel like crap the next day. and we drink responsibly as none of us drive or leave the house when drunk. we sit around playing video games and watching movies.

its called living.

as a quote i just read, "Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Our new years eve tradition involves getting drunk and firing off cannons.

We fire off the cannons to shoot down the baby new year as he flies over. If the little bugger lands in your yard, its good luck.

We get drunk so it won't hurt as much if the little bugger lands on our head.

Booze and explosives, what more can you ask for?

Technically I am not old enough to get wasted, but I am hoping that I can get smashed this time. Oh and most people do it to start the year of with a big bang, lol.

Personally I don't exactly plan on getting drunk... I just hang out with friends and have a few beers.

If I happen to get tossed... oh well.

Booze is a traditional part of celebration. It makes you silly and that is fun a lot of the time. People like to drink.

Because it's right before you vow to reform, to better yourself, to make a resolution to straighten yourself out.

It's the last big hurrah before the New Year and new expectations and a revived sense of responsibility.
