Though Islam is often misrepresented and its teachings misquoted [ as you can see below ], I would like to share the qualities of Islam which led to its advancement.

1. What caused expension of Islam ?

" The phenominal success of Islam was primarily due to its revolutionary significance and its ability to lead the masses out of the hopeless situation created by the decay of antique civilisations not only of Greece and Rome but of Persia and China and of India."--[The Historic Role of Islam, by M.N.Roy,Foreword,Vora & Co.8 Round Building, Bombay-2]

" The circumstances of the age were favourable to the dramatic expansion of Islam. It rose in the period of intellectual and spiritual decline of the rulling classes throughout the world of ancient civilisations."--[The Historic Role of Islam, by M.N.Roy,pg-52,Vora & Co.8 Round Building, Bombay-2]

Vem'bery says, " Islam is still the most democratic religion in the world, a religion favouring both liberty and equality. If there ever was a constitutional government it was that of the first Caliphs. "--Vem'bery, La Turquie d'aujard'hui et d'vant Quarante Aus.pg-58 ]

ISLAM IS NOT A NEW RELIGION...........

"...Thus Islam appeared, not as a new religion, but as revival of pure Abrahamic monotheism, purified as one of the accretions of Judaism and Christianity and superseding them as the final revelation."--[Vem'bery, La Turquie d'aujard'hui et d'vant Quarante Aus. pg-44]

2 .*****BROTHERHOOD in ISLAM**********

" We have not sent thee , O Mohammad, but [as] a mercy unto all creatures."-- The Quran,[xxi, p-326]

" And my mercy encompasseth all things." The quran,[ 7:156]

" O you men, surely we have created you of a male and a female and made you tribes and families that ye may know each other."--The Quran,[ 49:13 ]

" Whosoever is kind to to God's creatures, Allah is kind to him."--The Quran

" Who is the most favoured of Allah ? He from whom greatest good comes to his creatures."--The Quran

" All his creatures are Allah's family for thier subsistance is from him, therefore the most beloved of Allah is the person who does greatest good to Allah's creatures."--The Quran

These teachings were truely followed by the Muslims as History indicates........

"....when Jerusalem capitulated to Khalif Omer, the inhabitants of the vanquished city were left in possesion of thier worldly goods, and allowed the freedom of worship. A special quarter of the city was allotted for the residence of Christian population with thier Patriarch and his clergy."--
[Rise and Fall of Roman Empire- GIBBON]

3 .*********JUSTICE in ISLAM**********

" Make peace among them with justice and act equitably, surely Allah loves those who act equitably."--The Quran [49:9]

This is also backed by History.........
.
The critical Gibbon coclusively proves that, "...to his Christian subjects, Mohammad readily granted security of thier persons, the freedom of thier trade, the property of thier goods and the toleration of thier worship. This profitable principle of toleration was observed with more or less strictness, not only by all the immediate successors of the Prophet, but over the whole period of Arabic ascendency."--[Rise and Fall of Roman Empire- GIBBON]

4. **********TOLERANCE in ISLAM********

"And if anyone of the idolaters seeketh thy protection (O Muhammad), then protect him so that he may hear the word of God, and afterward convey him to his place of safety. "(The Qur’an 9:6)

Now what History says..............

" He himself [the prophet] gave letters of security and protection to the Jews and Christians in Arabia and never used any violence to them upon the account of religion."--[ An Account of The Rise And Progress of Mahometanism with the life of Mahomet- by HENRY STUBBE, M.A. of Christ Church- Oxford, From a manuscript copied by Charles Hornby of Pipe office in 1705, London,Luzac & Co. 1911, pg- 142-143]

5. Respect for other religions.........

" Say : We believe in God and in what has been revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham and Ismael and Issac and Jacob and the tribes and in that which was given to MOSES and JESUS and in that which was given to all prophets from their Lord. WE MAKE NO DISTINCTION BETWEEN ANY OF THEM and to Him do we submit." ---The Quran

Islam is the most practical religion............

[ THIS IS IN REPLY TO K H A L E D..........]

"Fight in the cause of God those WHO FIGHT YOU, but do not transgress limits; for God loveth not transgressors. (The Noble Quran, 2:190)"

"But if the enemy incline towards peace, do thou (also) incline towards peace, and trust in God: for He is One that heareth and knoweth (all things). (The Noble Quran, 8:61)"

"And if anyone of the idolaters seeketh thy protection (O Muhammad), then protect him so that he may hear the word of God, and afterward convey him to his place of safety. "(The Qur’an 9:6)

"[2:190-192] And fight in the cause of Allah with those WHO FIGHT WITH YOU, and do not exceed the limits, surely Allah does not love those who exceed the limits. And kill them wherever you find them, and drive them out from where they drove you out, and persecution is severer than slaughter, and do not fight with them at the Sacred Mosque (in Makkah) UNTILL THEY FIGHT WITH YOU in it, but if they do fight you, then slay them; such is the reward of the unbelievers. But if they desist, then surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. And fight with them until there is no persecution, and religion should be only for Allah, but if they desist, then there should be no hostility EXCEPT AGAINST THE OPPRESSORS."

These instructions exactly correspond with the International law. And every nation and every person or set of people has the right to self defence and to defend his/their property.-----as per law of the land.

HOWEVER I WOULD LIKE TO ADVICE YOU THAT BEFORE COVERSION TO ISLAM YOU HAVE TO PUT IT TO THE 'CRUCIBLE TEST' AND ONLY AFTER THAT YOU SHOULD BECOME A MUSLIM........

Becoz.......

" Invite (people) to the way of your Lord with wisdom and beautiful Preaching, and argue with them in the best ways."Quran [16:125]

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WELCOME TO THE TRUTH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations! To become Muslim you must say "There is no God but Allah and Muhamad is his messenger." After this, all previous sins will be wiped away. This is a serious decision and you should only say if you truly believe (i.e. no one is pushing you to do it). There's one thing you can NEVER change about Islam; that is the Quran...you have to believe in it fully, and that it is the word of God. Usually, contrversy is not derived fromthe Quran but rather, the hadiths (written accounts of the Prophet's life, by his companions that were compiled 200 or so years later. These are what really defines our lifestyles. You can pick and choose which ones you will follow and what the moral of the story is. The only Sunna (way of the prophet) that you can't pick and choose is how we pray. You can google that for more info; but until you learn, it is ok if you have the intent in your heart :)

Next, (sorry this is long) you are probly gonna face alot of criticism from family members, employees etc. I urge you to remain steadfast on the path of Allah and continue seeking knowledge. Islam according to how you use it, can have a big impact or small impact on your daily life. Every aspect of yur life can be found in the Quran and I hope you will verify the source before you take someone's word. For example, there are many Muslim women who don't wear the veil but still are modest.

Prayer (5x a day), charity, fasting and a pilgrimage are our other 4 pillars of Islam that you can google for more info. Remember, you are a bright young women and should check MANY websites and choose the one that sounds most true.

Lastly, terrorism and oppressing women is TOTALLY against our religious doctrines. We never saction violence unless we are first attacked, in which case we should defend our beliefs, either with our tongue (what we say), pens (what we write), through spiritual conquest (bettering ourselves) ad lastly physical conquest. If we die struggling in a good sin, we are martyrs; even a women who dies during childbirth is a martyr, she died bringing a life into this world.

I wish you the best of luck on your path to truth. If you become Muslim you will be under an umbrella of guidance, peace, and alongside 1.6 billion other Musims on a quest to our final destination. Don't ever feel you are better nor inferior to other Muslims; it may be that God has bestowed more of His mercy on you than even us, who have been Muslims our whole life! Peace and Allah bless :) If you have any questions during your research plz ask as I will stay updated with your questions insha'Allah (God willing)

The real point of Islam is to worship Allah like he wants to be worshiped, simple as that.
There are the 5 pillars of Islam which are as follows.
1. Declaration of faith. Shahada, stating. "There is no God except Allah, Muhammad is the messenger of Allah."
2. Salah. Praying 5 times a day.
3. Zakah. Giving in charity a portion of your savings each year.
4. Swam. This is fasting during the month of Ramadan.
5. Hajj. Making pilgrimage once in your life to Mecca if you can afford it.
When you have discovered all you can about Islam and feel you are ready to become a Muslim, all you have to do is say your Shahada (the first of the 5 pillars) its as simple as that.
Insha Allah you will read more gain more knowledge and will make the best decision for yourself. I reverted to Islam 2 years ago and it was the best decision i ever made. I found the true path and Insha Allah you do too sister. Peace to you.

Say the Shadah in arabic:
La ilaha illa ALLAH, Muhammedur rasoolu ALLAH.
Then in English:
There is no God but God(ALLAH) and Muhammed(PBUH*) is his slave and messenger.
Then you'll need to take a shower I believe. (I didn't do this part.)
You'll have to get a full abya from a Muslim clothing store in order to get into Saudi for Hajj when your able to. You'll need to stop eating pork, no smoking, no sex before marriage, you can only marry a Muslim man. No drinking alcohol. You'll need to cover everything except eyes and hands (Prophet Muhammed(PBUH*) said that in a Hadith). You can't have Christians or Jews as friends. No celebrating any holidays except Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Adha. You'll need documentation done to prove you are Muslim. Name change is not needed however if you want you are allowed to change your pagan name to an arab one if you want.
