Anyone truly searching for meaningful answers would have a difficult time finding any here. There are too many trolls posting cynical, absurd questions for no purpose other than to upset others. Contrary to it's intended design, the Religion & Spirituality category is used heavily as a forum, which does not work well given it's current format. Does anyone else agree that this category should be dropped? If so, why? If not, why not?

No, I am not an atheist. I do believe in God, as in the Bible. But I don't want to be lumped in with the crowd of so-called "Christians". I prefer the term "white American male"?

It shouldn't be dropped. There are trolls on every site, not just here, and most people learn to cope with them. And I have learned quite a few interesting things about other people's belief systems here. Yes, YA is flawed, but there's need to throw out the baby with the bathwater.

I really don't see anything wrong with how it is now. It would be nice if there was less offensive remarks, but that's up to the censors and the people that post those remarks. The format has to be free to some extent, or else it's too heavy (ie no humor to lighten things up a bit), and people wouldn't be able to express themselves. I'm for free speach, even though that opens the door to a lot of blasphemous ungodly talk. Each individual is responsible before God for what he/she posts. This category really is not for the easily disturbed and easily offended. I suppose you have an idea for a better format that could be implemented consistently with all the other categories of discussion, and would not destroy the entire point of Y!A? You aren't suggesting a cage match are ya?

Friend, I have always said in the 6 months, that I have been here, If I can only help one person, then it is worth it, I am not interested in points, & I myself will soon be coming off this site, Not by yahoo nor by anyone, But after 6 months of seeing demonic people questions, That don't even deserve an answer, & the way they act & even so called Christians The way they post their questions, I can only see 1 out of a 100 that has a true question, I don't know when I will leave or if it will be for good, But I am seeing the same things all the time, Any true Christian that desires an answer, God will omehow give that person the correct answer, The Bible says ask & ye shall receive, It is fine with me if Yahoo shut down this site.

No, I think it does have good points. I admit there are people like the WHIDR, or the Sleestack who are just here for amusement, but this forum is getting a few important messages out there. I can tell by some answers and questions that my answers have made at least a few Christians rethink their actions.

My comments my upset some, but they are meant to make Christians think things out and possibly cause them to obey the bible more.

There are many things wrong with modern Christianity and most christians today are just pagans who call themselves Christian. If I can cause just one person to decide to follow the bible and stop being a pain in the neck, it has been worth it.

I am pagan now, but was a faithful bible believing bible quoting Christian for 25 plus years, and I hate it when an unknowledgable Christian tries to convert me. If I can be instrumental in helping them to study the bible so at least they can approach me with a little knowledge, I will not hate talking to them as much.

I agree that the current format is not working. They could add sub-categories for believers verses non-believers...or one designated for "religious debate"; but that would not stop the trolls from coming and you would have to rely on those who post here to adhere to the sub-categories.

Having said that, you find religious questions and religious based questions in many of the categories here, not just R & S, so eliminating it would just send a whole slew of trolls and intolerant people everywhere else to have their little kitty litter spot.

Truth is, we SHOULD be able to police ourselves and our inability to incorporate tolerance into this section only tells me we are sad, sad individuals.

Now...everyone can say...well I am a (fill in the blank) and I am always considerate and tolerant of others, its the (fill in the blank) that cause problems here.

Wrong, no matter how we individually respond or what technique we use, if we come here, and it continues the way it is, we are ALL part of the problem, not part of the solution.

ehh, if people get upset by it, why wld they continue to open it? its a choice. so no, i don't believe it shld be removed.

i'd also hv to ask, why are they searching here? the web is a mighty big place and many religious affiliations hv message boards. not to mention, take an online class, buy books, research! but if you're looking for guidance, find a reputable source!! random freaks on the web is not a trustworthy source.

i think yahoo is for discussion of like minds or those seeking other opinions, not be used as a spirtual guidance tool!! yikes!!

It seems to be like you have hang ups with your Christianity and I do not care what anybody in this yahoo answer has to say about God or anything else religious. I think that religion should be talk about and should not be taking out of yahoo answers. People give stupid answers about Love and relationship question as well. I love God and if anyone hates me for that so be it. I respect everyone opinion and views about God. I will not compromise what I believe for no one. I am christian and there nothing phony about me and do not know why you worry about these people or what they say it not like you can see them anyway.

I get some really good information from this site from time to time. The mix you find here is what is generally found out in the world. I like being around people who are not afraid to discuss God Issues.
You could remove yourself if it is that irritating to you, or would it bother you to think you would'nt be missed?

Just like how this question is in the wrong section, and more of a rant.

So, you're only contributing to the problem. Reported for violating terms.

And no, freedom of speech and all that, the section can stay for those who do have an interest in asking about said topic.
