I want to buy a small/medium size dog. What.....?

I personally would get a medium sized dog. I like to be able to play with them and do everyday activity's like going on a run, a small dog can not do that. I think medium sized dogs personality is better too they have a more balanced character. Small dogs are snappy and hyper, and not very loveable in my opinion.
I don't really have a suggestion to what kind of dog you can get but I have an Australian Shepherd (not large but not medium kinda in between) they have a high energy level but they are smart beyond belief, ours potty trained in 6 days. They are a great companion and are always wanting to please you.

You're going to get a TON of people that 'love their dog' and think it's the best breed. Honestly you should go to your library (free) and look at a 'dog encyclopidia' and read it. They group them by their groups (Sporting, hunting, toy, non-sporting, etc...) It's really going to depend where you live, how big your home is, if you have kids, etc.... Just make sure you get a puppy that looks healthy and is playful!!! Shelters are great- but you are getting an animal that may have 'issues'. Breeders are great because you can look at their lines and see their health. STAY AWAY from pet shops. aka puppy mills! You'd be shocked to see how they're treated :o( SO SAD! And when buying from a breeder, the breeder should want to interview you, and know what kind of home her baby is going to. Not just someone who wants to make $500 per pup!! Good Luck! It's always fun bringing home a new baby (human or not!)

I have two pugs, I love them so much. Very sweet and social. Corgy's are adorable as well. Very active and hyper at times though. Shiba Inus don't get too big either.

There are sooooo many kinds of dogs out there. I was watching one of those dog shows the other day and was amazed at the number of dogs and how many look so much alike! You may just need to go to a shelter and see what kind of dogs are running around!

Go to the local humane society. You will literally be saving an animal's life.

Unless you plan on breeding, think about getting a mixed breed. They generally have better temperaments and fewer health problems. Breeders often accept problems in these areas in pedigreed animals, as long as the dog has other qualities that let them score high in the judging arena. A mixed breed is usually a better quality pet.

It depends on size - energy level go to www.akc.org for more info on what you might want. or animal.discovery.com they have a dog guide to help you or you can go to the nearest shelters and check out what they have and tell them what you want & they could hook you up with a good dog. But remember to put the dog in classes so you both can learn & make sure you talk to a vet. Just be sure what you want fits your life style and that you have time for one.

Go down to the shelter. You can meet the dogs they have, and see which one you fall in love with.

My best behaved medium dog is a little black and tan dachshund/basset hound cross who stared at me so hard when I was taking some food to the Humane Society that I had to take her home. :)

well it actually all depends on ur lifestyle and personality! if u like going out and shopping want a dog thats good for that u can get a chihuahua , yorkie, maltese, any bag dog pretty much if u want a dog for playing and guarding kids u can get a boston terrier, beagle, pitbull, basset hound, and others i would suggest going to ur local shelter and rescueinga dog that best suits ur needs! hope this helps! good luck dog shopping! =)

The best thing is of course to adopt from your local animal shelter. HOWEVER, Boston Terriers are wonderful dogs. Do a little research on them and everything good they say is true! Their emotions are almost human. You won't be disappointed.
