There are several ways. You can bite down on a chewable St. Joseph's aspirin with the hurt tooth. A microwavable heating pad helps when held up to the cheek. And also when you wake up at night with tooth pain. You can take tylenol and spray chloraseptic on the area it hurts this will soothe it long enough to let the medicine kick in. Be sure to take the tylenol first though because the water or whatever you use to take the pills may wash away the chloraseptic too soon. Hope this helps!!!

Ibuprophen (Advil...Motrin etc.) is as good as it gets. I find it works even better than painkillers with codeine and without making you sleepy. Also when you take ibuprophen, if you have a good strong cup of coffee, the caffeine and ibuprophen combine to make a great painkiller.

The obvious answer would be Orajel, however, you can also use whole cloves. If there is a hole in the afflicted tooth, place a clove inside of the hole.
