I've had braces for two years and am about to get them off in a few months. I'm worried, because my teeth used to be much whiter and look nicer. Now, some parts of each tooth is white while other parts are yellowy. I was wondering what procedures or items that i can buy at the store really work for whitening. I'm only 13, so I dont want anything really heavy-duty, just something that will help me get rid of some of the stains that make me self-conscious.

Any tips and tricks? Thanks in advance!

i got my braces off before highschool started ( two years ago)
my teeth was in your situation, but i kept brushing my teeth, and i used white strips.
when you get your braces off, afterwards you teeth feel all..slimey haha, gross...
well anyways after you get your braces off, brush alot, my teeth arnt yellowy anymore, but try using crest white strips....

when i got my retainer, i used the whitestrips and it tells you to use it for about 15 minutes, i put on the whitestrips, and then put my retainer on, so it wont slip off my teeth, and i sleep with it on, i wake up with really white teeth...

I had braces for about 3 years, maybe a little less. It didn't hurt for me to get them off. Your teeth feel weird, super smooth. What you should do when you get your braces of is SMILE. Braces make teeth so beautiful. Maybe you should eat a treat something you aren't suppose to eat with braces on. Congrats!!! Have a Wonderful Day!

DO NOT use over the counter dental whiteners. They will wear away the cement holding the braces to your teeth.

When you get your braces off, your othrodontist will remove the cement and buff away any discoloration. Almost everyone gets a little discoloration with braces, and it is nothing to worry about.
When you go in for the big day, you can ask for some extra polishing. It is likely your doc will do this for you, because he/she knows that removing braces is a big event in anyone's life.

So, in short....be patient. And Congrats! I still remember the day I got mine off almost 10 years ago.

i'm 13 and i got my braces off not too long ago. Crest whiting strips can help and also toothpastes that say whitning on them. when you get your braces off, they clean them with an electric brush and then they send you to the dentist whether your teeth are white or not. Good luck!!

If I remember right, your orthodontist will do a thorough cleaning when he takes the braces off. If that doesn't take care of it, ask him what to use. You have to be careful with that whitening stuff.

You can put some baking soda on your toothpaste when you brush your teeth. That will help whiten them safely.
