Today I purchased a bootlegged movie from a random guy in Great Neck, NY. Does anyone know if bootleggers work out of a larger group in the city or each of them work on their own. Be specific please. PS. the movies worked fine

I'm guessing that it is probably bought either off of a truck or in a "warehouse" (like a row-house that is used as storage). There are a lot of buildings in Manhattan that are entirely used for storage, esp in Chinatown and the 30s. My guess is that the product is either bought from those buildings in Manhattan or from a warehouse in the bronx. I remember only 6 months ago or so, a woman was shot and robbed in an office building on W 34th Street. Then all of a sudden the NYPD says that they were 'about to bust the smuggling operation in that office the next day before this happened'. The truth is they knew about the operation but didnt want to do anything about it but b/c of the incident and the media coverage, they had to make something up. I dont believe the NYPD cares to bust up the piracy ring b/c that would involve 'paperwork' and no action packed bustem ups. You know how cops hate paperwork.

You can get any bootleg movies, watches, purses and even perfume/cologne down Canal Street in Manhattan.

I never buy them because when a "make as much money as possible and don't leave a trail" mentality is in effect, it seems like a big gamble.
