In the beginning was the Word and the Word was God and with God. No separation.
The Bible says nothing about being mean to homosexuals. Sin is sin. One isn't greater than the other. Homosexuality is as bad as adultery or fornication. It's sexual sin.
I can be nice to everyone but I don't have to embrace the sin. There's a difference
As far as morals....well without God then I wouldn't trust another persons interpretation of what is moral. He might think it's moral to steal from me because I have more. I'd rather trust the Lord and follow what He tells me which is to love others as He loves me. To help others, care for others, help the widows, help the poor, etc

Morals can exist without any writing.
The Bible has some good lessons, but not all of the Bible teaches morality.
After all, Lot's daughters were good people (as they were spared destruction), but they raped their father.
There are people who do not follow the Bible who show more morality than some who do follow the Bible (such as those who use the Bible as an excuse to hate witches and homosexuals).
While some people claim that the Bible (and especially the Ten Commandments) teach morality, the Bible is not unique in this regard. Before the Bible, there were codified laws that taught respect for other men.

Your really not interested in an answer. This isn't even a question but rather a statement.Christians are not mean to homosexuals.Telling someone that sin is okay is being mean and inconsiderate of that person. We as Christians are exhorted to "...warn them that are unruly,..." 1 Thessalonians 5:14a. You can read in Romans 1:26-32 the seriousness of this sin,to warn them of the seriousness of this is only as proper as telling a child the water is to deep and you cannot swim, stay away from the water. As for expressing morals without the Bible God is able to do that to.Just look to the animals around you and you will find they are heterosexual and they know nothing about the Bible....or do they ??

Of course, morals can exist without the bible, and indeed without any religious affiliation whatever. Moral codes come from evolution, which applies to societies as well as to species; a society using a "correct" moral code will survive preferably to one that does not. Irrespective of its dubious theological merits, Mormonism, with its emphasis on family, thrift, and self-reliance, is obviously far more moral in this sense than the Shakers or Jim Jones' cult. It follows that the proper moral test to apply to a proposed action is: how will it affect society as a whole? Murder and theft are considered immoral by most societies, for obvious reasons.

Yes, if you break it down to individuals then morals not outlined in the bible can exist. Such as the one you mentioned, be nice to gay people, that is not in the bible but it can exist. Don't let anyone eat poison is a moral, not specifically outlined in the bible, but still can exist. One does not need a bible to live morally or one does not need a bible to believe that morals exist.

Morality and the Bible (or any text seen as "holy") are not linked. Morality exists with or without the Bible. Some can argue (and do) that the Bible provides immoral advice as well as moral.

Bud, it is like this. The bible is God's word, therefore, there can not be a Bible without God.
When God created mankind there was only God and Adam. In time, Adam had children who also had children. As you can see, there has always been only one God and only one word of God. Those who did not want to obey God's commands (like disobedient children do) created their own code of morals and belief system.
Being nice to gay people is part of our God-given good sense to love our neighbour even though we may not necessarily agree with his lifestyle.
I hope that his answers your question.

As much as I hate to say anything is absolute...I do think there is, somewhere, a line of absolute morality. C.S. Lewis addressed this in his book Mere Christianity, in that all people have a sort of inborn moral compass; he used this as a proof for the existence of God, but as much as I love Lewis, I think it serves more effectively as a proof of no God. If we have inborn morality, and it can flourish on its own, what is the need for religion?
Which isn't really a direct answer to the question, but I think you can see what I'm getting at.

Well let's see the morals that the original bible had written were horrible at best : You can stone your wife to death if on your marriage night if you found out she wasn't a virgin-and killing people cuz they don't believe in god-and sooo many more horrible acts to add to the list and hating gays happens to be one on most Evangelical and Baptist Christians list or morals-So sweet huh?-You know- because Christ was trying to preach hatred and jealousy-some people are just evil bigots themselves and the hatred they interpret from the bible just fuels them on...

The bible is more than just a 'moral compass":
2Ti 3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
