Our Issaquah, government subsidized, low-income senior apartment building where I reside has experienced a sudden influx of senior Chinese recently arrived from mainland China. They are brought here by their adult children who are employed and reside in the Sammamish area. In this year since they began arriving, they have become the majority of residents. They receive government stipends and pay as little as $6 per month rent. They are daily visitors to the local food bank. Apartments that become available are rented to these newly arrived Chinese. They do not speak English and naturally do not work. Those of us "old-timers" suspect a scam is in progress. In order to stay in the US, I suspect their adult children agree to support and maintain these elderly parents but with the complicity of our building owners and manager, they turn that responsibility over to we the taxpayers. I believe such a scam would be well worth the while of all involved. What do you think?

I agree with what you are saying. (Im from Bremerton Wa). It is not fair to seniors such as yourself who have lived here all thier lives, worked, and paid taxes to have immigrants "over run" your complex.

The parents of the chinese immigrants should be the ones responsible for thier parents. They should provide housing (not us tax payers), and food.

I feel for you in your situation, and I would get together with the non-immigrants in your community to discuss what actions you can take.

Sounds like a lot of BS, and those people should not be allowed to come to our country and take advantage of OUR government.

Good luck and best wishes

If these new arrivals are entering the country legally, there is probably very little that Immigration and Naturalization can do about the problem. If you do suspect a scam, it would be prudent to report it, but don't be surprised if youe complaint bears little fruit.

Working in industry of Seattle Suburbs and having interest in ethnic groups from SE Asia, Cambodians, Laotian, Thais and Vietnamese along with the indigenous natives Hmung and Yards I interacted with them all.
As an aside note. after years of gaining trust and friendship of some Cambodian. Laos' and Vietnamese, they admitted to me that they were on opposite side in conflicts and I respect their views greatly.
The influx into Seattle by chinese is just following the same patern as was done in mainly S. Tacoma and is not restrictd to just our state by any means.
A few years ago, ten at least a study was done on HUD housing and the realestate manipualtions doen by certain ethnic finacial groups, Korean, and how they downgraded realestate bout it cheap and then built for subsidized housing.
From Lawyers and especially in the growth of religous, mainly Korean Christian sites, this practice has helped the economic interest to complete this cycle.
That is one reason no political movemtn will look too deeply into it.
I give credit where it is due and they have learned the best way to use the system for their own means,
They understand the real economy of the US and have learned the way to use capital to achive goals within it.
In other words they are one heck of a lot more entrapenurial than most amerians by understanding how the real Sociaistic programs allow the wealthiest portion of US to become even wealtier.
Example" Do you understand the cultures and values of recent imigrants.
A recent case in point was a Korean curch selling entry into US and to get it they said Korean was working for church wehn in reality they were wroking for a churchmentbers buisness but they gained entry by that subterfuge.
Being honored to enter some "Circles: first to help friendd buy his wife, and then cojoined to another tht allowed one member to buy a 7/11 style store I became amazed at how much capital was flowing without IRS knowing system exist.
I beleive they do but are afraid or told to leave alone by connected campaign contributions.
Yo have to repay loan but not refuse any member at later date the same coutesy of obtaining a loan interest free, with each loan backed by circle members.
Want to buy a 7/11 store?
Join a circle and get cash or huge downpayment, buy store and loan is paid back by say the sale of gasoline, while you live on store profits until store is paid off. Loyalty to circle includes buying from suppliers of store needs within it.
You find this influence mainly within cash heavy transaction entitys, with low labor cost, kept even lower when you sponsor a job for new immigrant.
To cut it short!
IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
