Paint shop pro 8 crashes every time that i attempt to load it with my new computer, it did install from the program disk and starts loading, then stops partially through the load procedure & crashes. I have tried contacting tech support for HP & they were of no help after 4 hours talking to them, we tried several things and nothing has solved the problems. One of the support techs said it was a graphics card issue, & then they suggested i just send it back if I'm not happy. I purchased PSPXI and it will not even install completely. So now i cannot use either program. I d/l a trial of adobe photoshop CS & it works, as well as internet & macromedia dreamweaver. My problems seem localized to PSP 8 & XI. Corel has not yet answered my questions 4 days later. I hate to send this comp back, since i just got it Friday, but if i can't get it working then i will be forced to. If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated. With PSP8 it crashes at the initializing pallets screen

My computer specs are: Windows XP Media Edition 2002 service pack 2, AMD Athlon 64 ex Dual core processor, RAM1.93 GB, free disk space: 349 GB, video adapter: NVIDIA GeForce 6150LE, Graphics Card information- Processor: GeForce 6150 Le, Video BIOS verision: 5.51.28.45.83. IRQ: 16, Memory: 256 mb, ForceWare version: 82.08, TV Encoder type: NVIDIA Integrated. This computer is a custom HP Pavilion Slimline s7600e pc & the printer is an HP Photosmart 7960 version 2.245.1

This computer is brand new, so it should not be experiencing such issues already.
I have also has similar issues with PSP8 loading on an older Sony that it previously worked well on for over a year, but now it has started crashing as well. This actually was occurring before the issues with the new HP as it was the reason that i bought the HP- to continue my photo editing.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled PSP 8 at least 4 times, completely removing it. Also, at the urging of HP support since this is a new computer i did a complete recovery of the entire computer. This also did not solve the concerns.

I bought the newest version of paint shop pro- XI and attempted to install it as well, after uninstalling psp8. This came out with less results then the installation of PSP8. It froze in the installing process at the Registereing modules section and never fully installed.

I wrote Corel (Paint Shop Pro's parent company) and asked their advise over the situation- providing tons more details then I've mentioned here, and 4 days later I am still without a response.

I did pull a few data files from the old computer that was already experiencing issues with PSP8 crashing and brought them to the new computer, this could have influenced the new computer's crashing upon loadup of the program. I have done a full virus scan and spy ware scan on both computers, the old Sony computer ran PSP8 for nearly 2 years without incidence, but within the last two weeks started crashing. The new computer (HP) never got PSP to work properly from the beginning. The old computer we assumed was crashing PSP due to a lack of ram since it is outdated and completely full with only 4% remaining hard drive space. I will follow Ron's advice and delete everything related to PSP in the new computer to attempt to solve whatever issues there may be.

I do not wish to purchase an old version of photoshop, as i have used Paint shop since version 6 and am very familiar with their operation and the program and do not wish to go to adobe if it's not necessary. Besides, i just purchased the new PSPXI and opened the box- so i can't return it. There is no need to buy more software that will not work, i just want to solve the problem. It would be easier to send the comp. back and get a different one without these issues then to loose the money on software that i'm going to use either way.

You do have a strange problem. I use Paint Shop Pro 8 and the same H.P. printer that you have. I had no problems at all installing it. If you have parts of the first try left in your computer, you will need to clean them all out. You are going to have to get both of those programs left over files and folders out of your computer. Also turn OFF your virus program while installing them. To start cleaning your disk, run CC and Spybot S&D. Then do a virus scan. After that do a search for any folders or files that have anything to do with PSP. Also look in your start up list and uncheck anything it may have as well as your running processes.Once you have found all of the left over stuff, if you know how, you should edit your registry and getrid of anything it put in there.

Do you've got your original retail replica? You do not want a serial number for that nevertheless it must be within the field. I agree - are attempting looking Yahoo or Google and you may get your answer. Additionally write to Corel, they is also competent to support.
