I live in connecticut and fly out of the New York airports. It takes abour 4.5 hours of airtime if I fly non-stop.

Hartford does not have nay non-stop flights so you would have to tack on at least an hour ofr a connection.

Southwest has a direct nonstop flight to Las Vegas, which takes just short of 6 hours of flight time. If you fly out of JFK in New York Jet Blue has a direct flight. The time in the air for this flight is 5 and half hours. This is a direct nonstop flight. If you fly out of Newark, Continental has a flight that takes a little over 5 and a half hours in the air, again direct nonstop. It will appear from the flight times given that the flights are shorter, but Las Vegas is on Mountain time so you have to allow for the time change.
