two paper cuts?

I'm sure there are many things worse than a paper cut, and I would hope that your mother thinks this way as well. You may be looking at the phrase for its face value and not what she is really trying to say. I mean come on I would hope your mother would see that a severed limb or severe head trauma would be worse that a paper cut.

I can think of numerous things worse than a paper cut so, no it is not true. For instance, a paper cut which you subsequently get vinegar on is marginally worse than a paper cut.
Toothache is definitely worse than a paper cut.
Being burned alive, I would imagine, is worse too.

That's a huge exaggeration but basically it means for the size and severity of the wound, paper cuts hurt a lot worse than they ought to.

That's just a typical Mum's expression - 'There's nothing worse than...'
From her point of view yes they are a nuisance as they don't heal well - keep opening up again, they sting alot and get in the way of domestic duties etc.

Nope...being cut up alive would be worse...but paper cuts do feel like hell at the time :D

I slipped with a sharp knife and needed 6 stitches in my left arm. Give me a paper cut over viewing my own sub cutaneous fat any day.
