i have heard that dogs wait and watch their owners eat because they view their owner as "head dog", so to speak, and are waiting for the head dog to finish so they can have their turn.

do you think it is the same for cats?

sometimes i think my cat thinks he is an infant because he ALWAYS wants to be cradled and kissed.

kyle :o)..."bobby" and i talk as well. he meows and i meow back and it goes on for a while. i don't know what i am telling him, but apparently it is good.

also..."kitty" (the snob) will meow at me in a long whiney way (definitely different than the usual meow) when i tell her "no!" if she is getting into mischief. so cute. but she stops! :)

my dear bobby sleeps at my side and buries his head against my body. i am totally into it! i love that he is so affectionate!

I don't think that's a funny question at all. I often wondered that about my first cat, WilyBeth. She loved to be cradled like a baby and to give little kisses. We even communicated with eye blinks to say "I love you" for many years. After that, Gambit began to do some of it too and even more so for a while.

Now Cupid, my 2-year old male cat, is even more of a lover than any of my previous kids. He adores curling up in my arms like a child would and falls asleep in my arms. It's a normal and healthy response to being that in love with his or her owner. Some cats just are more affectionate than others - but I've always found its male cats that seem to be this way more than females, despite my fondness for female cats over male ones.

Although Miracle is now acting much like Cupid, and she's a girl. And Vixen, my other girl, is beginning to crawl into my lap too and fall asleep and she's a bit more stand-offish usually.

Just go with the flow and enjoy it - that kind of a bond is rare and special. I've been lucky to have been that close with 5 out of my 6 cats that are like this. It could just be you!

You are just very fortunate to have a very cuddly kitty. Most cats are aloof and don't like to be handled much. My cat has her moments but you would swear she thought she was a dog, she greats you at the door, plays catch, comes when called, begs and rough houses and even lets me rub her belly. Yet she reminds us she is a cat when she tries to hunt the bird...lol.

Cats are funny and very smart creatures. Count yourself lucky to have such a loving cat.

I think your cat, much like mine, is just extremely affectionate. You are the pack leader, and cats are very fond of following their pack leader for affection, food, etc. My older cat sleeps under the covers with me and is mainly attached to me, on my lap or in my vicinity, at all times, while the 3 year olds are content to be near but still on their own. Remember, you are their life, and although cats are known to be solitary animals that come to you when they want something, they still feel an extreme loyalty to you and want to be with you. Just like dogs.

LOL. I love it. Why can't my cat let me do that!

I dunno tough call, I wouldn't think it's yes to both. Obv he likes being held in the human way but wanting nurture and love like a mother. If he is needing nurturing from u then maybe he views himself as ur child or something. Which works.

Wait it out and see, if you enjoy it and makes him happy keep it up. He might grow out of it.

i like your thinking..well it is proven that animals copy people especially the pet ones. i dont know if your cat thinks he is a human but he 100% thinks you are ThE man. cats are very mystical creatures. very scary sometimes. you may carry out a research if you are interested hope i was helpful

The cat sees you as the alpha, cat or human it does not matter. You feed, protect and give affection to it. That is how your cat sees you.

Cats wait for no one. No matter if the cat thinks you're a cat or he's person, there's one thing he is for sure thinking: "I'm your boss."

in my years observing my cats i have learned one thing. they know what you look like, they know how big the cat they are trying to fight is, etc., etc. what they DON'T know is what THEY look like, how big / little they are, etc. otherwise, why would they fight themselves in a mirror?

that in mind, i think your cat thinks its just like you. oh, except for when it comes to doing chores ;-)
