Great observation maybe_im_right. But I wasn't implying that only Christians are undereducated. Lots of people in the world are undereducated. Christians are the only people who say that certain people who claim their religion make the rest of them look bad.

WHO'S THE MASTER!!??

No. I don't think a persons status or education level has anything to do with their spiritual maturity. Some of the people you would think of as lowely, undereducated and those sorts, have been some of the strongest in their faith. I think those who do the most harm to Christianity are the ones who get into the religion and routine of Christianity, but never truly experience Christ on a spiritual level.

because science has progressed to allowing us greater and greater understanding of how our world works, it is science that wins over a blind faith in christ, the holy ghost and g-d.

i have an atheist friend. he was raised strictly as a catholic. he shunned the church and the bible as a young man. he says the bible makes no sense, and largely in our science-based world, it doesn't.

he told me that if all the holy rollers that believe in the rapture were to be whisked off the face of the planet that it would be a better place.

i asked him, if all people that do good for the sake of doing good, not for any "reward" from g-d, if they are good to others because that is the right behavior to exhibit because it makes others feel good, what would happen to society? i asked him, wouldn't evil then run rampant on the earth, making your life harder than it is today. he said no, that group dynamics would then come into play and the people left on the earth would act, secularily, as good people do.

i think that part of the reason christians are hated in our society is because they hold onto their beliefs without question. for example, they throw it into the face of all that abortion is EVIL. well, when you think of how an embryo, tender, naked, is sucked out of the womb, torn into pieces, it is evil. but some people find that they need to get an abortion. therefore, liberals that do not believe in blind faith to a g-d that would call abortion murder cannot stand christians making the calls in our society.

science itself largely now explains almost everything, every "miracle" that christians used as a basis for believing in
g-d.

as for me, i do find a true wonder in universe. i mean, the big bang theory is just that: a theory. there is no proof that it ever happened. if it is true, then where did all that empty space come from, why was and is it there, and how were hydrogen atoms made to begin with? why is it you that is here, not a brother or sister that may have been born instead of you? to me there is a wonder in that that i cannot explain, no matter how much i know of science. my friend attributes it all to randomness.

my friend, i feel, is entitled to believe whatever he wants or not to believe at all. the liberty of our country gives all the right to worship what they want, how they see g-d, or not to worship. some atheists that i've talked to are very angry people, but i do not see why. if we give them the latitude to not believe in g-d, then what reason do they have to be angry with those that do believe in the christian, jewish, muslim, pagan (plural), etc. g-d?

what are criminal christians anyways? all that they are is born agains. if they had followed christianity to begin with, they would not be in prison. as for undereducation, i do not believe that in and of itself creates a belief, christian or otherwise. i know plenty of very, very educated people that are christians or follow another standard religion. so let them. so let agnostics be themselves and atheists too. but i also say: do not dictate to me how i am to believe or worship. that is my own choice.

Yeah, sure. And "the large numbers of undereducated and criminal" [insert word here from choices below] give their religious/nonreligious group a bad name as well.

Muslims
Jews
Atheists
Agnostics

Take your pick. It's not just Christians, you know.

You need to not single out groups that way because there are horrible people in every catagory, subcatagory, and walks of life.

You mean Ex-criminal, don't you?
As far as undereducated in "large numbers", cite your sources.

Luk 14:21 So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.
Luk 14:22 And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.
Luk 14:23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel [them] to come in, that my house may be filled.
Luk 14:24 For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.

There are a lot of undereducated criminals in each religion.

You don't need criminals to give religions a bad name anyways.

Trouble with that is, is that their isn't a large number, the number you have regardless of the credibility of the source you obtained it from is fabricated whether you choose to believe or accept it or not, refusal to accept it does not diminish the truth as you have refused to accept.
