I spent about $50 bucks on my bf for x-mas he spent about the same. Last year I spent about $150 and he said he did to but I found his recipt in the trash and he only spent $60. I asked him this year if it was o.k. if I got him a gift certificate after x-mas because the traffic was so bad, mind you I did get him other gifts already about $50 bucks worth I thought he had spent more on me but he spent $50 on my gifts to and yesterday he wanted his gift card. my question is why should I keep spendeng more on him then he is on me shouldent it be the same amount on each person?

It should be the thought that counts, you got him what you got him b/c you thought he would like it,I'm sure he did the same for you,the cost should not matter!

You should stop spending so much money on your bf if you're expecting him to do the same. Maybe he does not have that kind of money to spend. You give a gift because you want to not for what you can get in return!

And, you should tell him that you do not have the money for the gift card especially if you are expecting him to repay you the favor! X-mas is about giving not receiving!!!

well if you love him it shouldnt really matter if your spending more on him.

but him ASKING for a gift card, thats out of order when he knows you both spent the same on eachother

It shouldn't matter how much you spend. You buy with your heart. You shouldn't be so shallow about how much he's spent on you. I would never have asked.

It shouldn't matter...either you like the present or not ... it's not a competition.

no...it shouldn't be about how much you spend...it should be about feeling good that you gave that person something...
