Well, it SHOULD be a relationship where two people can be perfectly honest and open with one another, and still be accepted if not completely understood and loved for who they are.
Unfortunately, alot of times it means that a couple can date and/or have sex with other people, even while they're supposedly in a "committed" relationship with each other.

Open relationships are where people who don't want to commit to each other(even in marriage because some of them are married) get together, sleep around and risk giving and getting diseases. They claim they love each other but yet they want to be with other people as well.

First of all on open relationship is NOT a good thing. it means that you are OPEN to to anything with anyone and your partner not get mad. For example... you could sleep with another woman and come home and tell your partner about it and she does not get mad. I think they are stupid and can hurt a great deal of people. Whatever happen to being with one person!?!

in most cases an open relationship refers to a relationship in which basically both parties are free to peruse other options.. mostly sexual options..
in other cases it can refer to basically people who openly communicate and share everything..but i'm almost certain you're shooting for answer #1
