Can you tell me how many items of hand luggage can we carry at Heathrow now? Is it still just One?

I intend to bring with me a laptop, and a small suitcase as two items of hand luggage. Is it possible?

Hand Luggage - New Security Measures.

Passengers are requested to be patient while additional security measures are in place, allow extra time for their journey and be prepared for possible delays.

New rules were put in place regarding the security restrictions at UK airports on 22 September 2006. The revised security measures allow for:

an increase in the size of the hand baggage permitted onboard (ONE item of hand baggage is allowed; dimensions: 56 centimetres long [approximately 22 inches], 45 centimetres high [approximately 17.5 inches], 25 centimetres deep [approximately 9.85 inches] including wheels, handles, side pocket).
Musical instruments which do not fit in the permitted cabin baggage size are allowed as a second item of cabin baggage, they will need to be screened.
