We bought play doh for my daughter for christmas this year, and it was the first time I had seen it since I was about 8 years old. Now I can't give it back to her because it smells so damned good. Anyone else have this problem? lol

While I have never suffered this problem, I do have a compromising solution for you. Play with your daughter AND her playdough. This way, she gets some quality time with you, you both get to have loads of fun, and you get your sniff fix. One suggestion for you since your daughter is only 8... don't let her play with it anywhere around carpet, including a table that is on carpet or a rug. I am still trying to get dried playdough out of my carpet from when my daughter was 7!

Don't worry about your smell fetish, science discovered long ago that smell is a trigger for memories. And besides, we all have a private list of 'smells' that are our favorites, no matter how simple, common, or weird they may be to others!

While it has no bearing on your problem, I have a fun fact for you: scents are used with patients who suffer from Alzheimers because they do help enhance and trigger memory function!

Good luck!

Sounds like you enjoy the smell and there isn't anything wrong with that.Everyone has a favorite sent that they enjoy no matter how strange it might be to some one else.
Mine is laundry soap and dryer sheets.I do however recommend giving your child back the play doh and try not to smell it.

It's a little weird to be addicted to Play Doh and this is the first time I have heard anything like this. Just remember that it is non-toxic but still - don't eat it. There are worse things to be addicted to! Do you have issues with Silly Putty?

Create two nose plugs out of the Play Doh and give her the rest.

You really should share with your daughter - it will teach her a valuable social lesson about not being selfish.

That is really weird - I like the smell as well but, seriously, give your kid her toys back and control yourself... your an adult and she is a kid... that wants her Christmas stuff back.

Okay this is a very strange problem. It might relate to a childhood, pleasant moment. I like the smell I guess, but i'm definitly not obsessed. Please, give it back.
