Why would you not want to get one from a shelter? And why only ask for answers of people with kittens to adopt out instead of links to useful pet adoption web sites? If you are too lazy to look it up yourself, you're too lazy to be a good pet owner.

On second thought... not wanting to go to a shelter, not wanting a kitten older than 7 weeks... I really hope you are not trying to take these kitties to a research lab!

I can't tell you where in MI, but I would be happy to give you a 16 week old kitten in CA.
There are websites, craigslist, petfinders.com, etc where you can "meet" people who have kittens for sale. Craigslist is nice because the cats are not purebreds, but just "normal" people selling their pets.
BUT the thing is... you really shouldnt adopt a kitten before it is at least 8 weeks old. It is because this is the age - 8-12 weeks - that they are weaned. A cat that has been weaned will be better behaved, healthier, and therefore an all-round better pet than one that has not. This is for two reasons: weaning is when they first learn discipline; and the mother's milk has certain antibodies which are good for their babies.

Kitten season has begun. There should be kittens available at the local rescue within a few weeks. By the way - cats breed year round. It is a myth that kittens are only available in the Spring and Summer. There are more available, but they are available year round.

Do you mean that you do not want a purebred, or that there are no purebreds in shelters?

I'm not sure about cats, but about 1 in every 4 dogs in shelters are purebred.

Kittens shouldn't be taken away from their mothers before 7 weeks.

Best resource is online - petfinder(dot)com and type in your local zip code. It will give you several locations of places you can adopt from, most that are no-kill shelters. Good luck!

Most states won't allow you to adopt a pet that isn't at least 8 weeks old.
