No, that is the normal state of affairs on this Q&A forum. We take turns bashing each other, the Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and Jews. If people wanted to agree with each other they would go to some serious website that promotes world peace.

Everybody thinks that they have it right.

I've always said... people use religion to look down on other people. I think that looking down on and bashing others is one of the biggest reasons people believe in the first place.

Why believe in God if you can't feel superior to others? And assert your supposed superiority?

Because my family and I live in a society where we are condemned for not believing. My daughter goes to school and is harrassed by a 1st grade boy telling her she is going to burn in hell for not believing in god. I have to say "under god" in the pledge, I feel like an outsider when people in my network group pray every week, our laws are reflecting your pious religious beliefs, rather than what is best for people. I can't stand people inflicting their beliefs on me and what is really scary is people that say they don't inflict their beliefs on others are promoting this process due to their moderate beliefs in Christianity. To be a true Christian, one needs to follow the OT word for word. People cherry pick their religion these days so it is useless to even call oneself a Christian. Becasue of this, more people find it easier to become a Christian because they can find a church where they can believe whatever they want to and then instill those beliefs into their local communities (sometimes) and propagate the illusion of being saved by god. Sorry, I am through with it, it is time to start discussing this with people, rather than sit on the sidelines and watch the Christian Coalition try to take over the U.S..

first of all, nobody can prove or disapprove the existence of a god... so if we just live and let live then there`s no reason for this category to exist in yahoo answers...i`m sure that in real life people are more tolerant.

1) Christians aren't happy believing that a lot of people are going to hell.
2) Atheists such as myself don't want to see America become a theocracy.

Granted, I would like to see an "agree to disagree" happen here, but that just won't happen in my lifetime, I believe.

Nope, not until Christians see Logic and Reason and use rational thought, I will never stop. Religion is a plague on our society and the human mind and destroys far more than it could ever build.

Fear based people always justify their own beliefs by putting down someone else's. Somehow that makes them feel more powerful than they truly are.
