I don't think you need to believe in any higher power to do good things. I was brought up in a Catholic Household, Ive been baptized...the whole 9 yards. But I never really could get into the whole idea. Now I'm not saying I don't believe, but a little re-assurance would help. Any ways, I do good things for people quite frequently I think. And the best part about it is...I really don't expect anything in return. It just makes me feel better about myself and being a human being. People need to learn to think for themselves or else we as a society are doomed to make the same mistakes our predecessors have. Have a good day.

but seriously, it's ain't about what god says or said once, or any other more noble reason... it's about dogma. Remove the dogma, and there is no good and no bad, indeed it just depends on everyones personal view.
PS. my neighbor has a fetish, SM and branding.... i definitely do not want him to love me as he loves himself...

:P You're so bratty. What more noble reason to do good things than because our Father appreciates a cheerful giver? I ate vegetables when I was a kid because Daddy praised me for being a good eater, and ya know what? I still like my squash! Jehovah God knows that the way for people to be happy is through unselfish giving, and he sent his selfless Son Jesus to the earth to teach us such lessons. Jesus is the perfect happy example of selfless love.

I "do good things" because I know it pleases my Father and I love him. I try not to do bad things because I know it hurts Him. It is not just about doing something because I am told..it is about my love for Him...He has done so much for me, He is always there for me, I love Him so much and respect him that I TRY to please Him, and I repent when I mess up. Just as a person loves their spouse and tries to be nice to them and do nice things for them, and when they make a mistake they aplogize. They act out of love..at least that is what should motivate people. I don't know how "noble" my reasons are, but my love for God and my desire to please Him is what drives me....most of the time, and when I get off track, I try to get right back on because I love Him.

Some of them say they do good things because it feels right, not because of god. If this is the case, then why do so many of them say that atheists are immoral when they do the same thing?

I think it's just a combination of trying to give good energy and at the same time, love people, which is really what Christianity should be about anyway...I've met plenty of people who practice different faiths who do "good things" as well.

it's more than just because God says so. I think of it as if I were between a rock and a hard spot i would probably want some help as well... kinda like karma

I try to do good things because it makes me feel better about myself than if I do bad things. It may feel better because I know God wants me to do good things, though.

people who do things cause god told them to live in the south...they are lonly and depressed because they dont live in the north. so god uses them as his toy..a mindless slave who puts fiction before fact. christianity is a cult.
