Kind of unrelated but I've discovered that dying your hair kills lice.

Also, flea shampoo for dogs sometimes has the exact same ingredients as lice shampoo and is way cheaper.

Rubbing alcohol has been known to work as well. You just poor it in your hair and leave it for a while. It will dry your hair out but it's easy to just use a heavy conditioner to get it back to normal.

Lather up hair, leave in for 10 mins at least, to smother the lice. Blow dry using hot steeing to kill nits.

Wouldn't recommend using peroxide, might not kill everything and i'll bleach your hair. Use something like Rid or NIX -- those are pesticides specifically used for head lice. Just make sure you get something with Permethrin or Piperonyl Butoxide as the active ingredient

It won't kill lice or nits and it will change your hair color (not harmful) but it will change your hair color. Go buy the medication that is recommended for lice, you can buy at your local drug store.

It is recommended by many for lice, sometimes mixed with Borax, while Listerine is also recommended. Soak hair and cover with a plastic bag and a clothes pin, and leave for 2 hours before washing is what i think is recommended.
