"Do You want to throw a brick !??"?

Question

An argument between a German and an English guy. It is getting louder and louder... Suddenly the English guy yells out:
"Wanna throw a brick!?"
"Yes. I am very angry now!" answers the German. Picks up a brick and throws it into the windows of a butcher-shop....
"And now — Run!" the Englishman says...

Something was missunderstood, badly missunderstood.
But can You --- please --- explain WHAT the German guy missunderstood !???

I don't fully understand it in this context. Usually, "throw a brick" would be used as a means of getting someone's attention. In your context, it's as if the English guy is saying, "Do you want my attention?"

Sorry it doesn't seem to make sense, but you know the full story, so perhaps it may.
