Yahoo News:

MECCA, Saudi Arabia - Some 2 million Muslims began streaming out of Mecca on Thursday, the first day of a haj pilgrimage where Saudi authorities are on alert to prevent deadly overcrowding as well as sectarian violence. http://news.yahoo.com/fc/world/religion

How pointless is all this? Millions swarming in a dangerous mass. Every year hundreds to thosands die in hajj stampedes and hajj related accidents. What do Muslims say? "this is an honor to die this way. they are martyrs!" Wow, guess there is nothing they cant rationalize.

What do they do on this deadly journey of mindless ritual? Well, its all about rocks. Picking up rocks and throwning them at another rock in a "stoning the devil" childs game. Circling a big rock and bending over in front of the rock. Travelling to a big pile of rocks and pretending to confront Allah with lots of whining and crying (bet he loves that).

Surrounding this lovely childs game is Allah's dirt poor Meccan Muslims. Amazing...

If you are not a Muslim you will never understand it and If you havent been there its even more difficult to understand, I was lucky enough to be there last year and it is the most amazing and spectacular occasion in my life, You say that those that die are unluck and unfortunate but I say that those that are alive are unlucky, If you die during Hajj you go straight to heaven so they are indeed lucky, and if 500 out of 3mil people die that is not even a percent so this is not a baseless journey and it will never be one.

I don't understand this ritual either. Every year in the news, I hear of people being killed in a stampede while throwing rocks at the "Devil". Isn't this just as senseless as running with the bulls every year? Is it the excitment of having a chance at being killed?
Isn't it dangerous to have so many people in one spot over there, with virtually no crowd control?
I think they are just asking for trouble.

Isn't Hajj that kid from the Adventures of Johnny Quest? If so, then yea, he was kind of pointless. Or was he the sidekick to van wilder? Doesn't he have his own movie coming out? Van Wilder: The Rise of Hajj? If so, then no, he's not so pointless. btw, I didn't even read that other part... too long.

No... Islam is. So are all religious beliefs, even the hippy dippy new age ones. Science is all there is.
