Actually, I would think exactly the opposite. The manor of his demise was a devise to drive the point of his teachings home. I would think people would spend more time examining those.

I think people are very, very interested in him dying. *The* symbol is the cross on which Jesus died. As far as holidays go, it's much easier to celebrate a birth and give gifts and well wishes than to commemorate death.

Hello Stand,
In reality I don't think the celebration of Christmas has much to do with Christ. So I don't agree with your statement, which I found to be provocative culminating in me needing another cup of tea.

Well, He had to be born in the first place before He could die to save our souls.

I truly believe that it depends on the individual, I celebrate his death, because through the shedding of his blood, it made it possible for people like me, to become part of his family and to learn about his love and his acceptance of me as a child of God

Because it's Christmas - the focus is on Christ's birth.
At Easter time, will you be asking why everyone is banging on about Jesus dying?

It seems to me that you are generalising, because as a Christian myself, I feel that His death Is more important because it was then that He was able to bridge the gap between us and God and give us salvation if we choose it.

Christmas is a better holiday than Easter.
As my Irish uncle used to say
"If you can't be gettin' drunk on the holliest day of the year, is it any good atall?
