My cat is about 11 years old and has lost enough weight that I can feel all his bones on his spine. He is still eating and drinking, but sleeps a lot and has to be forced outside to go potty.

11 yrs is not old for a cat. Please, a visit to the vet is in order. He may have a thyroid problem or he could have diabetes. There could be any number of things that could be wrong.. Please do your best friend a favor and put a litter box where he can use it inside. He should not be forced to go outside to the potty, and get him to the vet pronto. Cats normally sleep a lot, but the weight loss could signal a problem.

My cat had to be put to sleep a few years ago. It lost a lot of weight, wouldn't eat much, and hid from the light (found shadows or dark rooms to sleep in). After a few weeks of that, and a few weeks of the doctor saying they didn't know what was wrong and that they needed blood work the cat fell into seizers.

There are any number of problems weight lose can mean. It may have worms, have you checked it's fecal matter when it goes to the bathroom? It could just be old age and it may be tired.

Go to the vet, they may or may not be able to help you without breaking your wallet. But if you've had the cat for 11 years you should know the cat well enough to know if it is a real major problem or not. If you feel it is an obvious and very quick change in it's habit you need to get to a vet.

11 isn't too old for a cat. Go to the vets immediately to determine how serious it is. If he's still eating and drinking, he may not be too ill. But it's always best to be sure. Best of luck!

Please take your cat to the vet. It could have several different things wrong with it. 11 years is a long life for a cat, but cats are living up to 20 years now a days. Older cats sleep much more than younger ones.

Again please get your cat to a vet as soon as possible.

That much rapid weight loss is never good. My 17½ year old cat went through a similar battle like this just days after 9/11 and we were told it was feline CRF - kidney failure. Because we acted early she lived another 2 years and 2 months before the CRF caught up to her. Please - don't wait and go see a highly qualified vet!

My cat lost weight and looked scraggly for a few years before she died and she was 16 when she finally went. I would check with a vet and maybe invest in a litter box. That way she can go inside.

i understand what you're dealing with. Our relatives cat died 6 months in the past elderly 18 a million/2. it could have been her nineteenth birthday 2 days in the past. She had kidney issues no longer long till now she died and issues weren't looking tremendous so I knew the top replaced into close to yet it replaced into nevertheless no longer uncomplicated to handle. It replaced into much less puzzling for me although as she replaced into living at my mum's and that i stay miles faraway from her so I wasn't there on the time which helped. i think of had I been on the vet's together with her while she replaced into placed down and been interior the domicile afterwards seeing all her issues like her toys and blankets it could have been harder. I have been given her ashes some weeks in the past as quickly as I visited my mum and that they at the instant are on my bookcase. I take convenience interior the reality that she replaced into pampered and nicely enjoyed for in basic terms approximately 19 years and that she replaced right into an stronger than happy cat. the top replaced into particularly non violent (finest to an excellent form of cats' deaths mutually with being hit via a vehicle as an occasion - which replaced into continuously an excellent worry for me) and he or she is now no longer in any discomfort or soreness. I nevertheless omit her yet i'm grateful she replaced into our puppy and that we've been able to furnish her one in each of those effective existence. consistent with danger you could take convenience understanding you gave your cat a effective existence and cared for him appropriate till the top.

Please take your cat to the vet immediately. It could be parasites draining his life blood out of him. Don't make him suffer. He's been your little pal for 11 years. He deserves to be treated like one of the family. You wouldn't make your mom or dad suffer would you? Do anything you have to to make his life easier.

Good luck, I hope your kitty makes it to a happy new year.
