I prefer country, pop, or soft rock. Stuff like that. No rock. It doesn't have to be completely about saying good-bye specifically, but about missing him, him being my angel, daddy's little girl, etc. Any thing would be a big help. I can't think clearly enough to find them myself because I'm still in shock. Thanks.

I love the song The Dance by Garth Brooks. That is my favorite song. I am truely sorry for your loss. A song like The Dance will make you cry. The song to me is about life's journey & where it can take you, what are people gonna remember us by.
Here it is- Now let your heart tell you what the song means to you

Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared 'neath the stars above
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd have had to miss the dance

Holding you I held everything
For a moment wasn't I a king
But if I'd only known how the king would fall
Hey who's to say you know I might have changed it all

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd have had to miss the dance

Yes my life is better left to chance
I could have missed the pain but I'd have had to miss the dance

I am not sure about pop, country or soft rock. But I lost a son recently to the war. Many found comfort in the following:

Live this Life / Big &rich

Here I am Lord

Be Not Afraid

I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say (celtic version)

On Eagles Wings .......kind of an over used one but in our case very appropriate.

Hope that helps. And, be careful. It's been months and I am still in shock. Be selective about who you choose to share your grief and feelings with. There will be so many "advisors" and "quotes" offered. You will find your way, in your own time. Be strong, cry when you need. Everyone's grief is different because everyone had/has a different relationship with the person that passed and you. It is complicated. Keep it simple. Keep it to yourself and those you most trust.

I am so sorry for your loss. A very nice song would be "When I get where I'm going" by Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton. It's very touching. Here is just a small part of the lyrics..

When I get where I'm going
On the far side of the sky
The first thing that I'm gonna do
Is spread my wings and fly

I'm gonna land beside a lion
And run my fingers through his mane
Or I might find out what it's like
To ride a drop of rain

Yeah when I get where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears
I will shed the sins and struggles
I have carried all these years
And I'll leave my heart wide open
I will love and have no fear
Yeah when I get where I'm going
Don't cry for me down here

This is not a song, but a poem that was written for a friend of mine who recently passed away. Hopefully it will help you.

MISS ME...BUT LET ME GO

When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me, I want no rights in a gloom-filled room; why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little but not for too long; and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that once we shared. Miss me...but let me go!
This is a journey that we all must take; and each must go alone. Its all a part of God's plan, a step on the road to home.
When you're lonely and sick at heart, go the friends that we know and bury your sorrow doing good deeds Miss me...but let me go!

I hope this helps. God bless you and yours.

ONE MORE DAY By Diamond Rio

Last night I had a crazy dream
A wish was granted just for me
It could be for anything
I didn't ask for money
or a mansion in Malibu
I simply wished, for one more day with you
one more day one more time
one more sunset, maybe I'd be satisfied
But then again I know what it would do
Leave me wishing still, for one more day with you.
First thing I'd do, is pray for time to crawl
Then I's unplug the telephone and keep the TV off
I'd hold you every second say a million I love you's
That's what I'd do, with one more day with you.
Leave me wishing still, for one more day
Leave me wishing still, for one more day

Daddy's Hands is by Holly Dunn
that is also a good song

Sorry to hear about your loss. I'm not really into Country, but for some reason I do remember one song, I believe by the Judds, I think called "Daddy's Hands". For some reason that one really stuck with me.

Patty Loveless Song: How Can I Help You To Say Goodbye? Though it is a song about a mother and daughter, you may find it comforting.
So sorry about your loss.

The Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Midler. I thought of that song a lot when my sister died in a car wreck.
