Within.

I also find NOT worshiping a sadistic God who drowned, sickened, and slaughtered millions, and who repeatedly commanded his followers to kidnap, enslave, torture, rape, abort, and kill people, to be VERY peaceful. I could NEVER be a Christian.

Peace is the result of isolation or cooperation. With isolation, there is no one to fight with. With cooperation, you must agree to not struggle. Cooperation is a result of evolutionary programming because it helps insure genetic replication by reducing the chance of physical harm and energy use. This has been modelled repeatedly in simulations and explains the prevalence of cooperative systems in biology.

I'm not religious, but the principal I stick to is the golden rule....I don't kill people cause well, I don't think I would like to be killed very much. It doesn't have to be written down in a book for me to know right from wrong. It's just common sense.
