Yes, find the fuse box or boxes depending on the car.

Buy replacement fuses and a fuse tester/puller at PEP BOYS, AUTOZONE, or MURRY's (less than 10 bucks). When you make the connection with the tester across the two metal spots on the top of the fuse the light on the tester will go on. If it doesn't, then you have a bad fuse. Carefully pull it and replace it with the EXACT same amp fuse. 30 with a 30....etc. If you replace the fuse and it blows again later then you have a short/ungrounded situation and need to take it in.

Short of that, it's probably a short in a wire or a resistor is blown. Tracking down and replacing individual wires is soooo awful if you don't have the repair manual/electrical schematic and the ability. If the fuses work take it to a mechanic you trust to chase down those electrical gremlins. Resistors are a pain to locate in each car. Usually they are under the glove box by the fuse box, if the fuse box is there.

The resistor I just had to have replaced because my wife's AC didn't work cost me $38 bucks for the part plus some for labor, but now the AC works perfectly. My mechanic told me that when you get total failure in the system it's usually a fuse or a resistor.

Look either in ur handbook or on the lid of the fuse box, chancezs r all u mentioned r all wired 2 same fuse. Check fuse and make sure that the fuse has a tight fit. If all items r wired up 2 same fuse then the fault has got 2b around the fuse box. I could b wrong, but if all items r wired up 2 same fuse then its got 2b around that area..

Please let me know how u get on.

it could additionally be that the window itself is binding, thereby stifling the motor. The stall torque rankings of those little vehicles are in all risk no longer powerful sufficient to handle binding in any respect. Jabbing the door panel would suitable it till that's rolled down returned and slips out of place to bind. you may take the door panel off your self and look to make certain in case you may decide what's unfastened or binding, yet you will decide on the two screwdrivers or nutdrivers to do away with the screws or bolts. in case you unscrew each thing then you would desire to pop the door panel off and upward after assuring the door latch grip and turn physique are disconnected from the panel as nicely because of the fact the arm relax. each so often the screws are hidden up below the factors in a recessed section so look all around nicely and assure you have all of them out. that's many times had to pull the decrease end of the panel out from the backside first as that's clipped into the holes in the steel inner door panel itself. The plastic door panel mounting clips many times smash and could be replaced with new ones regardless of the indisputable fact that if the motor vehicle is old and has been by many-a-seasonal climate cycle to make those little clips crack and chop up. that's regular as maximum plastics tend to lose their resilient lubricity by the years and type of "dry-rot". it particularly is nevertheless extra fee-effective to do your self particularly than pay a mechanic over $sixty 5 money an hour or extra for hard work on my own and he will in all risk smash the clips too, for yet another $8 to $12 money to purchase new clips. attempt it or draft a guy-pal into attempting it for you and save your self that high priced hard work fee.

lift the carpet on the left hand side and you will see a control box just under the seat, examine the wiring harness that goes to this box, you should see rotted and broken wires, cut out the bad section of wire one at a time as not to get mixed up, once you have made good the wiring every thing should be back working, i have made this repair many times on the passat, water gets in and rots the wires.

welcome to the woes that VW don't talk about. Your fuse box is shorting out. Water gets inside and it rusts creating new connection pathways. Auto electrician to fix it I am sorry to say.
