i got mine pierced..just for fun. I didn't do it for anyone else or for any other reasons(sex). after the swelling goes down it's pretty fun. You'll get a lot of weird people who are interested in it (i say weird meaning people who are business professionals or who seem really uptight) You can also go quite a long time without people noticing it if you don't want them to know. just don't laugh with your mouth open or get really excited when you're talking. I liked having mine, but unfortunately i had to get rid of mine when i got a "real" job.

have fun and enjoy it! it can be a big turn-on, even for girls.

when i got mine done, i used listerine EVERY time i ate or drank anything other than water. be careful when you eat, it's really hard and if you don't pay attention you'll bite down on one of the balls and that hurts a little and you can chip a tooth. the worst time of day for it is when you wake up in the morning and your tongue is all swollen, but it's gone in a couple weeks. make sure when you can take it out, you clean it or it gets this really rank smell and you are now more prone to mouth and throat infections.

My wife got her tongue pierced. It got all thick and swollen and she couldn't speak properly for about a week or maybe longer. I'd say just be careful what you eat and stick to your care sheet.

By the way, in case you're wondering this, it will heal up if you take out the barbell. My wife has since let hers close up.

Sorry can not say anything positive. My son had his done a long time ago did not last long he took the bar out and let it grow back together. So to each their own if that is what you like just be careful and don't let it get infected.
Good luck

I have mines done twice...

So:

avoid heavy foods for about 2 weeks, even if you feel like you can do it, trust meh, avoid heavy foods. (steaks and such as well as popcorn), carry listerine with you and rinse a lot...

do suck on ice. it helps with the swelling. do change from that long *** 14g to a shorter 14/12g after about a week, do avoid sexual contact for 1 month (kissing ect), do change your ring out every couple of months after it heals to soak and clean your ring (keep extra)...

do remove it when eating (dont ever underestimate how badly they will chip your teeth, even if you ARE being carefull)... dont smoke the first 73 hours after getting it dnoe if you smoke.

if you plan on gauging it, do start slowly and work your way up (im at an 8 right now, working up to a 4)

i got my first one when i was about 14 or 15 because i loved the way it looked (im 23 now), and because it was something that i wanted. i got the second one done when i was about 21 because i was ready for a second one.

i love having it done, it gives meh something to play with as i have an oral fixation... keeps meh calm.

have fun with it... be safe with it... remember, its something that can be removed, but always keep it clean, even after it heals...

My tongue was really sore and swollen for the first couple of days, but after that it was fine. I have had mine for almost 8 years. I have never had any complications or infections. I love mine, and I hope I never have to take it out.

For me it did not harm as much as my abdomen button did. I took ibuprofen good in the previous I went in to have it carried out. I additionally replaced right into a smoker on the time (you may stop! yet i be attentive to you be attentive to that...) and that i did smoke some hours later in spite of what they advised me. I continuously saved a small bottle of mouthwash with me everywhere I went to make confident that I wiped sparkling it good away.

To ease the swelling and kinda numb the pain, you can eat crushed ice or ice cream. Also buy a mouthwash without alcohol so it won't irritate your tongue. I used Biotine. Once it heals, it's so worth it! Happy healing!

Do not get in the habit of playing with it by rubbing it back and forth on your teeth. It will ruin your teeth! My friend had mega dental bills from doing that with his. Don't take this as judgement for having it, just advice for keeping it.
