I know my brother won't let his daughters wear make up or sexy clothes, how are they ever gonna learn to be pretty, they are gonna end up looking like his wife, just a mean old tomboy with no sense of fashion or beauty.

it sounds to as though your the one that that is ugly here,on the inside. leave the way they raise their kids alone, they are not your children. beside the fact if you new any thing beauty comes from within. and any decent person would know this already.

I have a brother that does this. My niece sneaks around and lies about wearing certain things at svchool or the mall. The facts are, if tehy a girly at heart they will do what they feel anyway. While I don't think it's a good idea at all for young girls to dress, "sexy" I do think there are societal demands on young girls to be all they can be as far as wearing the right kind of clothing and having the right hair. I think girls should be encouraged to take care of themselves, be hygenically minded, and do what makes them feel good.

I don't know how old they are, but if the daughters are only 10 or 11, your brothers' philosophy may not be a bad thing. Children are sexualized way too early by the media and popular culture. If the girls are in their teens, there are plenty of friends, fashion magazines, etc, that can teach them if that's what they want.

You dont have to wear makeup or dress "sexy" to be pretty. He's teaching them good things right now. That they ARE pretty without adding artificial things. If the only way youll look pretty is by wearing eyeliner and a mini skirt than you werent pretty to begin with. They need to know theyre great as they are. Im not opposed to my daughter wearing girly clothes or a little play makeup at home but self-respect first. Good for your brother, pitty on your future-trashy daughters.

Whoa! Maybe he just doesn't want his daughter's self-worth to be based on looks! Ever consider that your view makes you seem awfully shallow? I think it's appropriate for women to be feminine by using tastefully applied make-up, but to imply that your sister-in-law is unattractive because she doesn't, and that your nieces should dress sexy is wrong on so many levels! Have fun with all the negative feedback you'll get from this question.

P.S. When you get old, all you'll be left with is your personality- sure hope you're prettier on the inside than what you're revealing here.

How old are the girls your speaking of? Are they old enough to wear makeup? Is he teaching them that pretty comes from inside as well as the outside? As far as sexy maybe your definitions differ is all.

pretty isn't about makeup or sexy clothes. it's more about being feminine (not slutty) and acting like a lady (manners, etc) Acting with self-awareness & self-confidence makes every one look better. If they develop the inner traits that make one beautiful, it will show on the outside.

He's smart not allowing his daughters to wear sexy clothes. How old are they anyway?

I think most families don't want their children to grow up. That's why they aren't taught about make up and what not. So when they ar grown they are just plaine jane! =) It can be good and sometimes bad!

Yet if parents were to teach their children early on about make up and stuff well maybe then they would be the next brittney! LOL
