This is to cut a man's head hair (the top of his head) ... he generally keeps it really short. I just don't want him to look like a fool!

Yeah you can, might dull out the blades faster. I have tried this and it takes about an hour and a half (depending on length of hair) to do rather than about 20 minutes with actual hair trimmers.

I just finally bit the bullet and got my hair trimmed professionally because doing it myself wasn't getting rid of all the damaged ends. I hate losing my length (and I might be the only one who notices), but I can finally get a comb through it and I know it will grow back quicker. In truth, I went to one of the walkin places at Walmart and paid $15 plus a tip, and she did a great job. Sometimes you just have to let someone else do it.

You could try but beard trimmers are for shorter hair...like beards. You will probably ruin the blade

I guess you could, but you need those attachments to keep from cutting to close. You will probably end up with little bald patches, unless that's the look your wanting.

Yes, but considering you can get perfectly good Chinese made proper hair clippers for under $10 it's not worth economising.

I suppose you could use it to cut hair on your head, I don't see why not. It may not be as effective though.
