Hi Emily...cats who have ongoing sneezing, watery eyes, cold-like symptoms could be a result of an Upper Respiratory Infection (URI) or the worse case scenario: (FVR) Feline rhinotracheitis virus or better known as Feline Herpes Virus (FHV) and another feline disease such as Feline Leukemia (FeLV). Allergies are another possibility, however it's important to determine if FHV or FeLV is involved since it requires specialized treatment and protection from other cats since this is contagious. In this instance if you live in area where other veterinary hospitals are available consider an alternative opinion.

Please consider reading the following websites about URI to see if your cat fits this pattern: http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_feline_upper_respiratory.html

I got diagnosed with herpes simplex virus (type 2) about six yrs ago, when I was still attending college and had a mindless one-night stand. I realize a lot of girls will say this, but I swear I had certainly not done that sort of thing before. I just made a mistake that one time and all of a sudden it seemed like I was going to have to live with the consequences for my entire life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date men again. After all, who wants to go out with someone that has sores round her private parts? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/4t8Nh everything got better.

Not only was I able to clear away all remnants of the herpes virus from my system in less than 3 weeks, but I was also able to begin dating again. I even met the guy of my dreams and I'm so fortunate to write that just last week, in front of everybody in a busy cafe, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! This program gave me back the opportunity to be happy and experience true love. Now I want to enable you too by sharing this with the whole World.

i had a kitten once that was like that, except it went on for 4 months. a vet will innoculate a sick kitten if they think it's a simple uri. do antibiotics help, and then it comes right back? if so, it may be the same situation that my little guy had. he was taken away from mom too young and it stunted his immune system development. we ended up having to give him horse steroids to kick his development into gear. he hasn't been completely right since. don't know if it's the steroids or the high fevers for 4 months, but either way he's very entertaining.

mention this to the vet next time you go, especially if you feel your kitten was taken away from mom too early. if you had him to the vet at 7 weeks, that means you had him prior to that long enough to notice an issue, which also means to me kitten was taken away from mom too soon.

I would get a second opinion on this one. Sounds to me like the vet mis-diagnosed this by a mile. There are several things it could be, the least of which is feline herpes. Worst case scenario - a respiratory distress. I'd go someplace else and have your cat looked over, especially after 4 weeks and no change.

Do you hear wheezing when you hold the kitties belly to your ear? I would go back to the vet and ask for some sort of treatment. Probably an upper respiratory infection that can be cleared up with amoxicillin (sp?).

Yes, he will grow out of biting as long as you are not encouraging it.

Your cat most likely has allergies that are kicking up for some reason. Our cat who we adopted is 3 years old, and about a month after we got him, he started having the symptoms you are describing. He had watery eyes, and was sneezing a lot. Other than that he acted fine. It was due to outside allergies we discovered. They kick up in the fall, and then again in the spring just like with humans...we almost expect it now.
But it could be something else your cat is allergic to other than outside stuff....for instance, cats can be allergic to food. We can't really give our cat anything with chicken or else he'll throw up!

Kittens DON'T get colds. They get upper respiratory infections. That is why it is not going away. They need antibiotics for this. Nothing else will help. Do not give your animal medication for humans unless you know that this is OK. ie: Vet, or a tech has told you. Overdose will kill your cat.

i don't know why the vet gave a sick kitten his shots, should have treated the cold first, try some children's benadryl 1/2 the recommended dose to see if this helps, but do get to the vet and get this kitten on some medication

It good that you got him his shots but I would take him to another vet. Especially if it's been 4 weeks. Another tip for you... don't give him milk. It'll give him diarrhea and then you'll have a whole other set of problems.

He has a respiratory infection. Please take him to a different vet, since the one you have doesn't seem to care much about him at all. Respiratory infections at that age are often fatal. Did your vet test him for FIV and FLV?
