You could say that silence is negative in many ways. For example, if someone is being abused, and you know of the abuse but refuse to say anything, you're just as much an abuser as the being doing it. Your silence says that you don't care about that person, or that you feel it's none of your business to become involved.

Yes and I would have to say yes to the last question. In my opinion, silence can be good if that is how the person chose to act in stead of ranting and raving and being a lunatic about things. Silence is golden at times! It gives the person time to think!

silence means there is a problem they can't talk about or that they have made a decision about something and don't know how to confront it. anyway u look mat it it does send u a negative feeling, that there is something that just isn't right in a relationship.

As immature as it sounds, sometimes I think the "silent treatment" is effective. It gives a person time to think about the situation. Of course, it can always backfire and make things worse.
