This question is for Christians who believe in the rapture. please no answers saying 'there is no god" and the "rapture isn't going to happen".
I have heard people say that it is going to happen in their life time. i know we are in the end times, but really, so soon?

the rapture is when jesus returns to earth and all of the Christians meet Him in the clouds. and no, it's not something new to Christianity. it's talked about in the Bible.

I know because God gave us clues in the Bible. he told us that certain things would happen right before He came back, and they are now happening.

Advice to all: read the Left Behind series!! It begins with the rapture and what follows is the Tribulation period. There are 15 books (including the prequel) and the 16th is due out in April '07, but the whole series is sooo worth it! Personally, I think the rapture will happen soon also. I just don't want to be left here in all the chaos that will follow... millions of people disappearing "in the twinkling of an eye"?! Can you imagine!!!

Rapture is a non-Biblical term concocted by a 15 year old Scottish Girl in 1830 named Margaret MacDonald and made famous by a New Age Preacher in 1860. You won't find the word anywhere in the KJV.
Mormon's say all men will get their own planet to rule. That ain't in the KJV either.
Revelations says be careful what prophets you follow, least you get the mark of the beast for following the wrong prophets.
I stick with God and Jesus and the Bible.
I'm more concerned with the here and now.
When God wants us, he'll bring us to him. I don't try and question God or God's timetable for things.

I would like to know exactly what this Rapture is. I was raised a Christian (converted to Judaism), and I never heard of the Rapture before lately. Is it something new to Christianity?

Yes, the Rapture will happen during our lifetimes. The parable of the fig tree tells us as much.
To "Anya," here's a very well-respected scholarly web site devoted to the Rapture: www.pre-trib.org
Peace.

Everybody wants the Rapture to happen. Because that will be proof that they haven't wasted their lives with religion. They want to be proven right.
Too bad they're wrong. It will never happen.

I, also, know that we are living in the last days. I honestly, think that it is going to take place in the next 10 years, maybe even in the next 5 years. It is getting close tho

I'm not a christian, but I have to ask - how do you "KNOW" we are in the "end times"? Who has told you, what evidence have you gathered? That isn't (I hope) a provocative response, I'm just curious.
