That's almost two thousand US dollars - that should cover your food. in-city transportation and entertainment and leave you lots of money to shop with. Have a glorious time.

It should be enough if you don't go daft with shopping. The subway is $2 anywhere. Taxis are cheap by our standards. Food is cheap. Entry to MOMA is $20 each or FREE on Friday evenings 4pm - 7pm. The Staten Island Ferry is FREE and gives you a close-ish look at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The $49 (£26) open-top bus trips are a must - do the uptown loop and also the night tour if you do nothing else.
Have plenty of $1 bills for tips - it is expected for any service. Macey's store is largest in the world - go to their Tourist Centre and ask for an 11% discount card for tourists. (Show your passport). Century 21 at ground Zero is heavily-reduced designer clothes and handbags stuff - worth a visit.
Best place for THICK fillings in sarnies is Junior's Deli - downstairs in the Food Hall of Grand Central Station. It's where the cops go for breakfast.
Cheap, interesting trip - take the subway to the Staten Ferry. Then take free ferry to Staten Island. Then hang on to your ticket and take a bus (on the SAME original subway ticket - no extra charge) and travel to Richmond Old Town. (Not the new town!). This is a civil war type town which has old houses and a few shops which have been preserved and are mostly empty. This has cost you $2 each so far! Now another $2 for the whole journey back! While you wait for the ferry back at St Georges Terminal, take photos of the Lower Manhattan / Wall Street skyline.
Another fabulous cheap trip is to take the PATH train from 42nd Street Station (I think) and go under the Hudson River to New Jersey. (Another $2 cheapie!). Get off at Hoboken (where Frank Sinatra was born) and walk over to the shoreline. There is a large, paved walkway.lined with bistros and bars. You can look across at the Manhattan skyline from the New Jersey side while having a meal or just strolling hand in hand. This is a major picture opportunity especially at night. Don't miss it. Cost of the round trip - $4 each!
Visit St Patrick's Cathedral free of charge. Walk around Central Park free of charge. Go rowing on Central Park Lake (what a laugh!) for about $10. Wander through Chinatown and see all the thousands of shops and stalls flogging all the tat you'll ever need for not a lot of money.
So, is £1,000 ($1,900) enough for a week - I think it might be too much! Enjoy the trip.

Yes, that should be more than enough. You don't mention how many people are in your party, but £1000 should be plenty for a couple to spend a week in New York City.
The pound is quite strong against the dollar right now, so this is the perfect time to visit. At the current exchange rate, a pound is almost worth two dollars ($1.96), so you'll probably be pleasantly surpised at how little things cost. We visited the UK in October and our reaction to the exchange rate was the reverse -- the prices of items were about what we'd expect them to be in dollars (for instance, a pint in a pub would cost £3 or £4, and we'd think $3 or $4 for a pint in the US would be reasonable, but after the currency conversion, the real cost to us would be $6 or $8).
To give you an idea, a cab ride in midtown might cost $10 to $15 to get around to most of the tourist destinations. Dinner at a nice but not tremendously upscale restaurant might cost $35 per person. The subway & bus fares are $2 (£1) per trip (with one free transfer) wherever you go, but there are day and week passes that reduce the cost even more. (To compare, a single zone fare on the London tubes is £3, or nearly $6!)
So, yes, I think that two people can get by nicely on $279 a day in Manhattan...

The town of Cancun is small, as are most of their lasting and temporary inhabitants. It was just a small mud buffer some 35 years ago once the strategy began to develop it in to the holiday haven of the 21st century. Nowadays you have the opportunity to visit it, with hotelbye . Today durante time, Cancun includes a medium-sized coastal town and a long, thin island attached to the mainland through links at their north and south ends. It functions world-class resorts, hotels, clubs, and malls. It offers anything for all, from an all-day enjoyment celebration beach to an separated, tranquil island. This is a wonderful place so find it today!

The pound is very strong against the dollar at the moment so you should do well when shopping but I went to NYC last September and my partner and I managed to get through about £3000 in total although that did include our meals out and trips.
Have a fab time though, we did, and I can't wait to go back there!

Sweetie that would favor to be sufficient money so that you may have an excellent time. I went to NYC for the first time at Christmas and that is so extremely. you may purchase a subway bypass that very last all week for round $27. i stumbled on that our greatest rate replaced into tipping the cab drivers and the human beings on the motels. because you'd be staying with your chum and taking the subways you'll keep a lot of that. i'm hoping you have a good time.

£1000 should be fine, the exchange rate at the moment is about 2$ to the £, so that would be a whack of dosh. Foods reasonably cheap considering how much you get, and there are loads of back street shops with great bargains. Depends what and where you are spending though, wouldn't last long in D&G!!
enjoy

It will probably be tough. #1, decent hotel rooms in NYC are very expensive...then you have to consider cost of transportation, food, and entertainment. My wife and I are from Ohio and were considering just a 3 day weekend trip to NYC, and I was figuring that I'd have to have $1,000 or more just for that! I'm sure it can be done, but you'll probably have to skimp in some areas. Sorry if that's dissapointing.

Plenty, as long as you're not planning on going nuts on 5th Avenue and flashing the plastic in Tiffany's.
