A miracle is something that defies explanation and is not part of the natural order of it's existance. A paralyzed person who learns to walk again is a miracle.

Birth is part of the natural order and happens every day, hence it is not a true miracle. Every living thing on the planet is capable of giving birth in some form or fashion. It may seem like a miracle to a new mother and surely it is a momentous and life altering event for her, but it is hardly defying explanation or unusual.

I'm sure I'll get plenty of thumbs down for that.

I hesitate to call it a "miracle", but since man has not yet figured out how to artificially reproduce the gestation of a mammalian embryo to term and deliver a healthy baby, IMHO it definitely qualifies as "special"...

To the new mother of course it seems like a miracle but its really not.

It is a miracle to those who think that it all came about by random chance. With such odds against life, it is a miracle that we even exist. To those who believe in God, it is showing how God gives life (physical)...and then can provide a spiritual life to those who seek. He is the source of all life.

If you consider that all life is a miracle and beyond the capabilities of man. the fact that life comes from life does not mean it is created by man.

Why judge miracles by their infrequency?

Seems like a poor standard.

When did miracle become synonomous with "long shot" - it was a miracle he won (talk about misusing words).

It's no miracle. One can find out exactly how it happens. A miracle happens by unknown means.
